So what was the story on Earl Clark after he left the Lakers? Did he just not get any playing time at Cleveland and Phily? Was he injured? Or was it that contract year thing?
Earl performed well for the Lakers until he got hurt, worn down or figured out...
He is versatile, can play some decent D at multiple positions , has a decent outside shot, rebounds fairly well, can handle the ball and is a decent passer.
If MDA stays and Jordon Hill does not return, maybe Earl can re-resurrect his career with the Lakers again. And then maybe this time he will have learned the meaning of loyalty over greed.
Also it depends on who the Lakers draft... |

Clark isn't very good, but he also needs a superstar inside to take the attention off him so he can then go in and get those scores and rebound chances. When he played with Dwight, it opened up a lot of plays for him in LA. Then factor Kobe, you had 2 guys who the defense was always worried about. One inside for feeds on rolls, or deep post position. Another outside for his elite guard skills. It allowed Clark to often go unnoticed. Same way Lamar feasted once Pau came to LA. Once you have that inside guy to go with your outside star, it leaves guys open a lot. Cleveland never had that inside guy to go with Irving.
Clark is no Lamar, but he's a good player if you can get him cheaply. His contract wasn't that bad, and I do think if you have the sort of team LA had in 2012 he would continue to have good years. He's just not someone who can do much more than fill in the gaps a defense gives you covering for your star interior player. |

He will be a fine fit for the 2014 - 2015 Lakers as they look to duplicate their scrub-filled line-up of this last season. The goal is to win 28 games next season...! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

Johnson at 225-230 lbs might be quite a player. His problem this year guarding big guys wasn't height/length/vertical, it was weight. |

Yep if Boozer doesn't get amnestied (Boozer would actually be a good guy for Randle to learn from).. Clark wouldn't be bad _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please
I would be willing to pay you for it. |

I'd want him for the minimum or a fraction of the CRE (cap room exception), but nothing more than that. |

I think if possible, it might be good to hold onto the Room MLE if it's not absolutely needed right now. That way, on the extremely remote chance that the Lakers are in the playoff hunt come allstar break, the Room MLE can be used to offer guys above minimum to give the team that final push needed to get over the hump and into the playoffs, maybe.
I realize that making the playoffs in the brutal western conference is a long shot, but nevertheless. There will be a lot of guys cut or traded in a salary dump (and then cut) around the trade deadline or the waiver deadline to cut a guy before he's guaranteed for the season. Those could be some nice pickups to make that final playoff race push if the Lakers can use the Room MLE to offer more than the minimum salary that other teams might be limited to. |
