We should if Spurs agree for a Sign & Trade Gasol for Splitter. They are in a win now mode and haven't been using Splitter much.

We get back a decent big with room for improvement.

They can only offer him 5M straight up...he is looking for an offer in 10-12 M range. That is why Chicago and Lakers are favorites.

Spurs and OKC desperately want him (in part to keep him away from the each other) but they can only offer 5M.

Partially agree..they are paying him 9 M but they are using him very little and are preferring to go with Diaw at PF and Duncan at C. Splitter can only play back up center minutes and they also started giving decent minutes to their rookie center last year. If they get Pau, Splitter becomes redundant.

I could see this ahppening, especially if we are not getting any of the big free agents, and Gasol wants to play for a contender. This could also be in play for Chicago in a sign and trade for Boozer, who would be a 1 year rental, and the Lakers wouldn't lose cap space the year after.

Could still happen, depending on when all the known transactions actually happen. A verbal agreement is not the same as a signed contract.
