Only way to pry him away is to sign him with a backloaded contract like what the Rockets did with Lin and Asik....

Don't really want the Lakers to do that, but would love if another team did it to the Rockets.

He'll resign with the Rockets for $12-13 million a year.

U can BANK on the fact they will only resign him if they are unable to get K-Love. They want Love BAD! Here is the funny thing, they don't want the LAKERS to get Love PERIOD!!!

Parson's decent, remember how heavily he aided in getting Coward to join them. Love would put them over the top, hands down, but they would still lack on the perimeter...

Hopefully a team like Atlanta will offer him $15M

Parsons is the epitome of a 3rd option. That's about 10-12m a year in my book.

It makes me wonder if they have a Melo deal silently arranged.

That being said... they also could make a move on Deng. If they did sign a guy like Melo, I'd love to see the Lakers sign Parsons

Except you can't. He isn't eligible for the arenas rule.

You only read the topic headline didn't you? C'mon, you have to know that Houston is doing this to get another player. They'll re-sign Parsons.

I am not sure what sense this makes this offseason, will an additional $.965 mil make the difference for the Rockets? When his contract hold is almost 4 times as much, $3.95 mil? Someone please explain.

My theory is that they want to S&T him at a much larger contract for a team with a star. If they would've picked up his option his 900k salary it would've been difficult to trade him in case they need to match salaries with a 15 mil superstar. They might be positioning themselves for 2 stars to come and play with Harden and Howard. Weird thing is his current 900k contract would have been a lot friendlier than a 3 mil cap hold for potential signings in case the teams are not interested in trades.

In theory they could sign Melo and offer Parsons + picks and prospects to Minny for Love or Boston for Rondo. But would Parsons accept that?

This deal I'm sure is to lock Parsons in as a RFA. If they didn't decline the offer that means next season he is a UFA. They just wanna make sure they get him long term rather him leave for a city like NY or LA who may offer the same money but a bigger role.

Parsons is kinda overrated if ppl view him to make 12-13 m a season. He's a slightly better Galinari and a 4th option if you wanna beat a team like SA or Mia

They did this so they have more control of him. By waiving this option, he becomes a restricted free agent instead of unrestricted.

Someone's will offer him a decent amount. It might be enough to make Houston think twice about matching.

Wouldn't mind Lakers grabbing him on the cheap once Melo is officially off the table. But he needs to take a step forward. He needs to become a knockdown shooter like Mike Miller in his prime.

Honestly... if I'm the rockets GM... I'm signing Monroe... then extending Parsons... talk about a flipping window.

Lin/Beverly
Harden
Parsons
Monroe
A guy worth like 200 mil who resorts to sleeping with 16 year olds

All young in there 20's... They'd win a few titles.

Parsons was the best value in the league last year. I think, ultimately, the Rockets strike out with Love and resign Parsons for $8-10M.
