Jim will tell the new coach who to play and how to coach the team. |

explain to us how many true centers are better the boozer at center?
gasols (2)
DJ is a better shot blocker but not scorer
hibbert(when his head is in the game)
Noah(better defender, not scorer)
monroe (possibly better offense supposed his defense is just as bad)
and thats about it the rest are nothing to even talk about at the C spot. _________________ LAL4K3RS wrote: He(Kobe) is the white haired kung fu master that you realize is older than dirt but can still kick your arse when in a sitting position drinking a nice herbal tea. |

No way this happens. It's obvious they'll have Boozer start at PF and Randle will come off the bench and will have to earn his minutes. Mitch even made a comment on It a few weeks ago prior to the Boozer signing saying something to the effect of "remember Randle's just a rookie so don't be surprised if he's coming off the bench." Seems like they're going to bring him along slowly - even in the summer league it seems like Madsen had a minute ceiling he was instructed to keep Randle under. |

We might have the best rebounding front court but defensively we need help. I say start Hill and have a solid rotation every 6 minutes |

Agreed. Boozer and Hill will be our front court. We'll get a lot of rebounds but will be terrible at protecting the rim. Pg's will be attacking the rim at will. |

Wouldn't listen to Ireland.
Ireland didn't consider that Boozer at center for international play works best...

Good point and also even if that worked back then, the Carlos Boozer of today is nowhere close to that player. He has lost quite a bit of athleticism and given his lack of size, that has really hurt his game, and at this point he is not a very good offensive player anymore (he was never good defensively).
For those graphically inclined, take a look at the 3 year progression of Boozer's offensive effectiveness. 3 years ago he was both a good finisher as well as solid in the mid-range game, i.e. the Boozer most of us remember. 2 years ago though his finishing ability was down, although still better than average in some areas, but his mid-range game mostly badly deteriorated (off-balance and fade aways due to lack of ability to get by his man or separate are examples of this). Last year, he was mostly awful from both mid-range and inside.
He didn't cost a whole lot, can be decent in limited minutes probably and can mentor Randle, but odds are pretty high that Boozer's best days are long, long gone. He may begin the year as a starter at PF or C (although that won't last long if he does), but eventually some combination of Randle, Hill and Davis should be starting at the 4/5. If not, that will be quite disappointing in terms of their development.

Note: Red is much better than league average, Blue is much worse, with the color scale changing in-between. |
