Sasha Vujacic has been working out with Blake Griffin, eyes NBA return this season

Sasha Vujacic last played meaningful NBA minutes back in 2011 as a member of the Nets, but played six-plus seasons before that, all with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Vujacic was known as a shooter (and an irritant to opponents) more than anything else, although he did sink two incredibly clutch free throws that helped L.A. seal a victory in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals.

He was technically in the league last season, although if you blinked you would have missed his stint. The Clippers signed Vujacic to a 10-day contract, but he only got into two games, most notably playing a little over nine minutes of garbage time in a 45-point victory over the Sixers.

Vujacic is apparently hoping for a more substantial NBA return this season.

From Arash Markazi of ESPN.com:

Sasha Vujacic has been working out this summer with Blake Griffin with an eye towards returning to the NBA this season.

Phil Jackson may look to give Vujacic a shot in New York. Team guy who can shoot and knows Triangle and knows what Fisher wants from him.

The part about the Knicks is pure speculation, but given Jackson’s propensity to bring players in who are familiar with his system, bringing Vujacic in on a minimum deal could make some sense.

Vujacic holds averages of 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 15.9 minutes per game for his career, while knocking down 37.1 percent of his looks from three-point distance.

Should have begged Maria to take you back Sasha. Now she's the French Open champion and has made more money in the first half of 2014 then you did for your entire NBA career.

Sasha is an overachiever. With his "talent" a 6-7 year NBA career is outstanding. He literally had no business being in the NBA, outside of a jumpshot that wasn't ever consistent come game time. Of course Phil Jackson the GOAT coach found a role for Sasha, which was to pesker guys on the ball and be an aggitator. Sasha took that role in strides. He wasn't always good at it, but his energy was obvious. I recall him, Jordan, Turiaf in those 2006-2008 era teams really making us change momentum in many games. It was his energy, their combined energy that helped us. I felt part of what went wrong after 2010 was we undervalued guys off the bench. Let Jordan, Ariza, Sasha all go, and they never were properly replaced as guys that brought major energy to an aging Kobe/Gasol/Odom/Fisher core.

You rarely see guys like Sasha last as long as he did in the NBA and make something like 20+ million along the way in career earnings. As tough as it was to watch his inconsistent jumpshot and foul prone D, I have respect for what he's done for himself. Hard work pays off.

Who's Kareem Rush working out with while eyeing an NBA return?

I'm gonna put up Pau's first gm as a volt find later today, wolfpack. You'll see that bench action in action. They were all mediocre individually, but good as a whole, pulsating energy unit for the well-oiled starting machine. Most benches down toward the 10th guy are lousy anyway, though most fans seem not to know this as they yack and complain about bench players.

Sasha was with Maria Sharapova until she wised up, Wolf. That's the definition of an overachiever. Not on the level of Marko Jaric, but still...

Lakers should really bring back the machine if we can't find better veteran PG for cheap.
