Shocked me.... 34 year old Kobe Bryant:

2012-2013 Season Avg. MPG = 38.6 and April 45.2 MPG

DAYUM!, friggin Antoni...

The 5-6 games leading up to 4/12/13, Kobe played all 48 minutes in each game. It was insane, and D'Antoni just stood there and let it happen.

I don't think his minutes had anything to do with the achilles tear. Haven't medical professionals come out and essentially say that?

An Achilles tendon injury might be caused by:

Overuse
Stepping up your level of physical activity too quickly

Not stretching enough before exercise
Wearing high heels, which increases the stress on the tendon
Problems with the feet. An Achilles tendon injury can result from flat feet, also known as fallen arches or overpronation. In this condition, the impact of a step causes the arch of your foot to collapse, stretching the muscles and tendons.
Muscles or tendons in the leg that are too tight

I think the doctors that said that Achilles injury is not caused by Overplaying are paid by the NBA during the lockout season when players playing back to back to back games and getting injured left right and center...

but it is common knowledge that overusing your achilles and playing while you are already extremely tired and increase the chances of getting injured multiple times...

comming back form injury, Kobe should not have played 30 minutes immediately, he should of started from 15 -> 20 -> 25 -> 30 then should not played more than 32 minutes for the rest of his career...

Blame d'antoni

he also caused Lin to have the meniscus tear during the linsanity season where he was played from 0 minuts to 40 minutes of the bat...

Up through April, Kobe's body had settled into playing about 38 minutes per game average, with two rests in the second and third quarter.

In April, he suddenly shifted to playing all 48 minutes with no rest. I can understand doing something like that for one game, maybe two max....but the Lakers were in desperate straits, and Kobe did it for 5-6 straight games, and he did it with an already injured ankle to boot.

Everyone seems to conveniently forget that Kobe went to a foot specialist to get a left heel spur evaluated, 2 weeks prior to rupturing his left Archilles. A heel spur rubbing against Archilles tendon is like playing a violin with a hacksaw instead of a bow.

The heel spur was an obvious indication something was going on in that area of his foot, yet MDA chose to increase his minutes while Mitch and Jim watched on and allowed it to happen, instead of sitting Kobe down and allowing the heel to calm down.

It still pisses me off that Kobe and Metta both possibly sacrificed the last few remaining years in their careers trying to get that 8th seed. They left it all on the court, but for what?

Not this year.....

It’s official, Metta World Peace is going to China. In an interview with reporters in China, Sichuan GM says Metta World Peace and the Sichuan Blue Whales have reached an agreement that will see the 14-year NBA veteran spend the 2014-2015 basketball season in China. Basketball Buddha

All this talk about MDA reminds of when the laker fanbase was pissed at riley for overworking the team during the playoffs and caused those hamstring injuries.

All this talk of managing minutes reminds me how MDA screwed our vets. BScott is my new HOPE.

Ruptures often are caused by a sudden increase in the amount of stress on your Achilles tendon. Common examples include:

1. Increasing the intensity of sports participation
2. Falling from a height
3. Stepping into a hole

Caues of Achilles Tendon Rupture

I agree that's the usual causes..

But if one looks back to the Dahntay Jones incident (where he steps under Kobe on purpose during Kobe's shot attempt) he got Kobe to land awkwardly and roll the ankle very badly.. Kobe wasn't right after that and kept limping. I think it was more than a sprain..

It's pretty amazing Kobe made those free throws with a torn achilles.. and walked on it.

I cannot think of any player in history who would choose to shoot them... Amazing dedication to his team and his craft

The NBA media really tarnished this mans legacy. How else to explain one MVP? And so many fans against such a pure God of the Game
