Being drafted by the Clippers is a death sentence.

For a team that seems to be in the lotto every year...what do they have to show for it?

2008: Eric Gordon (looking good)
2007: Al Thornton (looking good)
2005: Yaroslav Korolev
2004: Shaun Livingston
2003: Chris Kaman
2002: Chris Wilcox (the two players taken after this pick are all stars)
2001: Tyson Chandler (taken right before Pau Gasol)
2000: Darius Miles
1999: Lamar Odom
1998: Michael Olowokandi (#1 Pick, chosen over Dirk, Pierce, Jamison, Carter)
1997: Maurice Taylor
1996: Lorenzon Wright
1995: Antonio McDyess
There. I had to go back to 1995. That's 13 years of lottery picks before I found 1 All Star. Antonio McDyess made 1 All Star Team. He was a member of the Denver Nuggets. The Clippers are where rookies go to die.

LMAO at the 1st two bolded. What were they thinking? Didn't know Dyess was a Clipper draft pick! I thought the Nuggs drafted him. I think had Livingston not gone down they would be better off than they are with BDiddy. He had a lot of promise IMO.

If they did draft Blake, they could have a hell of a starting 5 if healthy (and if they fire Dumbleavy):

Caveman
Griffin
Thornton
Gordon
BDiddy

Clipps drafted McDyess and traded him to Denver for Rodney Rogers and a pick that turned out to be Brent Barry.

Of course he's been a huge disappointment.

That doesn't mean he didn't tap into his potential for a whopping 5 months of his career.

Unless you want to discredit what Kareem tried to do for him, his career, and the Clipper organization.

I think the 5 months you speak of, he averaged 14/9. Don't think he really tapped into his potential that much. He just went from lousy to adequate.

If the Clippers draft Griffin, then they need to trade one of their 3 bigs (Camby, Z-Bo, Kaman). Ideally they should trade Z-Bo but other teams might not want his baggage and fat contract. Camby and Kaman are very tradeable however. Both of these guys got a lot of inquiries at the trade deadline and I don't see that changing.

The odd man out with the Clips is...DeAndre Jordan, yeah that guy
He got almost no run last year, but when he did his numbers were very, very nice
Had a great game against Utah at the end of the year

Now what can we give the Clips for a 20 yo who can jump out of the gym and looks like a nice long term project at the 4?

Well, they need a 2, Ben Gordon is 6-3...Could we do Sasha for DJ and filler?

It would be sweet if the Clippers were able to land Shawn Marion for the MLE. That would give them:

Baron Davis
Eric Gordon
Shawn Marion
Blake Griffin
Marcus Camby

Zach Randolph and Chris Kaman as trade bait. THAT would make a pretty good team.

Man, if there anyway they would trade Camby for Sasha and Walton? Camby at back up center and PF would be awesome.

Only if the Clippers are dumb enough to do it.

BREAKING NEWS! Looks like Dunleavy WILL draft Griffin! Good news for Clippers fans.

Quote:
Mike Dunleavy has saved Clippers' fans and the NBA from a lot of drama over the next month.

"Clearly, we're taking Blake Griffin," Clippers General Manager and Coach Mike Dunleavy said in a telephone interview from Barcelona, Spain.

"This guy is the No. 1 pick. We're extremely excited. He's the guy."

Read that the Wolves offered Mike Miller for Chris Kaman. I think the Clippers should seriously consider that trade.

Blake Griffin will never realize his potential while playing for the Clippers, they are like kryptonite for ball players, everyone who plays for them ends up being a sucka

Mike Miller as a shooter for the Clipps would be nice. I hear the Clipps counter offered Camby to the T-pups.

Kaman could fetch more than an expiring. Chicago would probably give up one of their small big men (Thomas/Noah) plus a pick for Kaman. Hell, Hinrich would probably be in the deal.

The Clippers proved us wrong. Re-signing Blake may prove to be a turning point for the franchise.

Very bad luck being selected by the Clippers,

2009: Blake Griffen (Out his entire first season)
2008: Eric Gordon (Played in 9 games last season)
2007: Al Thornton (Played for 3 Teams in 4 years, averaged 7.4 ppg last season)
2005: Yaroslav Korolev (has not played in the NBA since 2007)
2004: Shaun Livingston (Leg snapped like a tooth pick, career ruined)
2003: Chris Kaman (Missed 152 games the last four seasons)
2002: Chris Wilcox (Missed 213 games the last five seasons)
2001: Tyson Chandler (5 Teams in 11 years, can't be a good thing)
2000: Darius Miles (out of the NBA since 2009)
1999: Lamar Odom (RESIGNED, Worst season of his career last year)
1998: Michael Olowokandi (Bust, one of the worst 1st Picks ever)
1997: Maurice Taylor (Not an impact player 4 Teams in 10 years)
1996: Lorenzon Wright (DEAD)
1995: Antonio McDyess (Had a very good career, NEVER played for the Clippers though)

Thanks for resurrecting my old post, I love rereading my old classics...

Please RE-read what I said: I did NOT say those players sucked, I said BAD LUCK being picked by the Klippers...! Many of them had some good years, but most of the years were NOT with the Klippers!

cheers

What if Billionaire Bommer buys the Clippers for 2 billion and no more Sterling and Company.

What if Doc Rivers ask to be traded to the Clipper and they do trade him?

What if the NBA forces a sell of the Clipper to Someone?

What if Shelly Sterling is a greedy biach and takes over the Clipper and sell the team to Bommer?

What if this site is renamed to ClippersGround because no star no longer wants to come to the purple and gold.

What is B Scott becomes the head coach?

What if Magic buys the Dodgers?

What if ?????
