Before he got in the water was warm. But the ice water in his veins brought the temp down.
Lol... it was a hot tub before Kobe stepped in to it. _________________ "If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.

Sportscenter showed this guy today and he has ALS. It's really sad to see people with this horrifying disease. With no cure the life expectancy is about 2-5 years.
If anyone reading this doesn't know much about ALS I think they should watch this video. This is what the ice water challenge is all about. It's about trying to raise awareness and money for the disease so we can save people like him.
thank you for posting this. I was always curious how this originated. _________________ "It doesn't matter how hard you try because you can always try as hard as you want, but its how smart you play"-Phil Jackson advice to Kobe

This is awesome.
Next we'll be saying when Kobe does a pushup, he doesn't go up and down, the Earth does!

I'd guess the ice bucket dumping appeals more to guys like Dwight Howard than Kobe... at this point it is exactly the kind of superficial attention getting gesture that would appeal to clowns like Dwight. Kinda like Harlem Shaking for "awareness" _________________ IM THE GREATEST HITTER IN THE WORLD!!!1!

I nominate that the stupid challenge be put to bed and that people actually just donate money to the cause rather than inundate us with silly viral videos.

Today, two over-30 co-workers asked me "What's ALS?" _________________ We back.

These videos have done an incredible job at increasing awareness and donations.

compared to the amount of people who did the challenge, and especially the amount of rich celebrities, it raised hardly any money _________________ Kobe

That's a strange way of looking at it.
The fact is that ALS donations have gone through the roof. The only thing you should compare the donation amounts to is how many donations were coming in before this.

I'm all for awareness, but do you anticipate those two now donating because they are aware?

It's been reported that donations are up tremendously from the same period last year, which is great.
But that only goes so far in making the constant appearances of the videos any less annoying.

I don't mind the video mainly because I know that good is coming from it. At least it's not some Justin Bieber music video spamming my timeline.

I don't mind the intent of the videos. That's not my point at all.
I find them pretty easy to avoid. I dont see what the problem is. If you cant avoid them because you're on facebook all day, then you have much more to worry about.

I hardly watch any. Not sure what's annoying about it when it's completely within your own control whether you view it or not.
(using "you" and "your" in a general sense. Not referring to you)
Sometimes it takes a gimmick to get people to participate and this is doing the trick. You have both celebrities and non-celebrities alike involved. For the non-celebrities they get 5 minutes of fame and if it is helping with donations, than it is working and as I understand it, donations are way up as a result. This was also started by someone with ALS.
