Please explain your statement. You cant support "We take care of our own" and say this is stupid. When was the last time you turned down a raise or didnt pay yourself more(bus owner) just because Other's thought you should take less? Dont forget, he actually could have taken more. Funny that it's anonymous, because the GM is probably afraid Kobe will destroy his team when he faces them |

The GM here is either an idiot or a hater. |
Not even Kobe can sell seats if he's stuck in a suit, healing. Kobe will most likely be very good still, even with his slow down. But how durable will he be? |

Pointless article since the Lakers aren't trading Kobe, and they are basically riding him until he retires. |

The anonymous GM is Jim Buss. LOL!
Nobody at 36 and coming off achilles surgery, who then could only play 6 games due to another injury on top, gets that deal unless he is someone who has done some extraordinary things for your franchise.
Obviously right now that GM is not wrong. Based on what we saw last year, it is zero. But what if by all-star break, it's business as usually at 25-5-5? I'm sure he'll have trade value then. |

Total disrepect ?
Sheesh, I could care less about what unnamed sources supposedly say publicly today.
At $23.5M per season (perhaps the highest pay rate per season in the league) for two seasons more, Kobe's rate simply represents a certain amount of legitimate controversy over his value, and with regard to risk as a tradeable asset to any club not named the Lakers, over the next two seasons.
Let's watch what's pertinent: Kobe playing in 2014-2015. We'll all know if he earns our respect - or not. He's already signed here for the duration. |

The NBA is a business, it was a great deal for Kobe. But I root for the Lakers organization as a whole, not just Kobe. You don't pay a 36 year old who missed close to two seasons the most in the league. |

You were probably one of the millions who has rooted for the Lakers the last 19 years, enjoying 7 championship runs, 5 titles and countless of amazing games on the shoulders of Kobe Bryant.
And you were probably one of the millions who still rooted for the Lakers when they brought back Magic Johnson after a life-threathing disease derailed the team for a decade.
Unfortunantly, too many people today do not value loyalty over business.
Sports is entertainment, and even at 36, Kobe has entertainment value 99.99% of the league cannot match. _________________ 2008-2010 Finals. 28.9 PTS 6.1 REB 5.4 AST 2.1 STLs |

This Anonymous GM is stating the obvious in regards to numbers however for Kobe trade value to be ZERO is pretty stupid. To the Lakers org, this was a loyalty contract. For him to follow through and end his career a Laker is big to many of us including them. Maybe, the Buss family thought with their heart instead of with a corporate mindset. They might be aware that the Lakers might not have another shot to land a super star or another championship, however to me it felt like that. Just another genuine transaction that honestly we dont see happen within any corporation. Maybe thats why the world is the way it is. All for themselves. So what if we dont win a championship. When he went down last year, alot of us said it was going to be years before we compete again. Too many cry babies on here. Wake up and enjoy what you have. How many other teams have competed like the Lakers- not many! _________________ “When all the trees have been cut down,

Just look at the state of many teams in the NBA... |

I get more outraged reading some of the comments LG than I do BSPN, Barkley, Snaq, and the rest of the NBA media combined. |

I wonder if "anonymous" GM would have the balls to come out in public and say the "obvious"?

Good . . .
Think how ridiculous it is that some young people can say they only saw Jordan when he was a Wizard!
Kobe should be a Laker for life. |

Trade value or not, the idea that Kobe's contract is too big and it cost the Lakers a competitive team is ignorant and not in any way based on fact.
Kobe took a pay cut, the Lakers weren't getting LeBron, the Lakers could have paid Carmello the max but he wanted to stay in NY. The only other choices were second tier NBA players that wouldn't help the Lakers win anyway because you don't win it all without much more than the Lakers have. There are too many Lakers fans that want to blame Kobe or Jimmy that the Lakers are in rebuild mode when it is just a reality. It happens everywhere. Look how long it took the Bulls to rebuild.
It isn't about Kobe's contract at all, no it is about making the franchise look inviting to future superstars so they will want to be here. That is the only real job that the Buss' and Mitch have. I sure hope that they can do it. |

Lakers have the uncanny ability to sit out the "game" to survive and fight another day.
Barring unforseen and spectacular circumstances, we won't be a championship contender for the next 2 seasons. So they decided to give Kobe a loyalty contract and the ability to retire a Laker after 20 years.
Lakers will survive to fight another day. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Probably the 76er GM who won't pay anyone over $6 mil and is using the Cavs and their futility as his game plan. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Kobe is NOT worth the money IF you are trying to find a guy to build your franchise around.
However, if you are a team that has been good but unable to break through to the top, a guy like Kobe could be the difference maker.
Anyone in the world think Oklahoma wouldn't have a serious shot at a ring if they added Kobe to that lineup??
Would it be worth the money??
I can tell you one thing, if we had that team here in LA and WE added Kobe, it would be worth the money. _________________ Never argue with stupid people! They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience!! - Twain |
