Original Post 9/4
Thought I'd share my son's highlight video from the summer league he played on. A little guy so far but a true PG.

Updated 9/25
We've been in the lab all spring and summer. He's a freshmen this year at a D1 school and playing JV soccer so he's busy. Who knows if he makes the team at only 5'2" so far but the skills are there. This from last weekend is a peek. He plays pickup ball at Ohio State and has been doing his thing.

I expected to see some little squirt clumsily fumbling about the court like little kids do at that age. I have never seen a kid that size with such a grasp on the game. He shows ridiculous dribbling skills and the sort of clairvoyant court vision that absolutely makes a great point guard.

Yeah - I did say little guy. Should have said short. He just entered 8th grade. He's only 4'10 (some of the kids he faces are over 6 foot) but makes up for it in skill and fight.

In the YMCA league my son is in there's a 7 yr old girl that plays like a teenager. Amazing poise and ball control. Head is on a swivel and she's already got good footwork. These kids nowadays... so good.

Thanks everyone!

PLATNUM - proud papa indeed.

Alpha - I could play a little but I was better in pickup ball once I started college than before. He's better now than I was in HS.

kray28_ - yeah, we modified his shot this past spring. He's been accurate for a couple of years but it was too flat. Now he can raise up over others with his arc.

Suggestions. Blindfold him and dribble the ball, between the legs, behind the back, left to right, all the moves needed to improve his handles ten minutes daily . Have him, for his height not shoot at the basket, shoot up. Derek Fisher is a great small person distance shooter, he shoots up.

My son was in a church league this winter. There was this kid on his team whose dad was a coach. This kid scored 46 pts in one the games.

Total ballhog, but excellent handles and could finsih with either hand and he could just flatout score like crazy. Very aggressive. Got steals, and got rebounds that he turned into immediate runouts and baskets on the other end.

Other parents and the refs didn't like him too much...but you had to respect his competitiveness. He was a second grader. All the other kids could do was foul him.

Thanks - he does things like that on his own already. Didn't show in those clips, he's judicial with it. But crossover, between the legs, behind the back - he's one of the best ball handlers in the city for his grade. Reminds me of Tony Parker in that regard.

I have to admit, the kid does look better than some of the PG's the Lakers have had over the years...

Smush Parker, Tierre Brown, Darius Morris to name a few...

Thanks for sharing--the sky's the limit for him!

My pre-draft analysis:

Ceiling: Smush Parker
Floor: Tierre Brown
NBA Comparison: Derek Fisher

Sorry bro. I hope you and the wife got another one on the back burner.
