After jersey sales and endorsements, Lakers probably came up with his acquisition. |

At his peak, Yao was making approximately $4m a year for Houston (it's a piddly amount), and Lin was barely making them half that much (Yao is still making them more money than Lin was via ZTE and Peak). Almost all the money goes into the general revenue kitty, jerseys (property of the nba), international tv rights (property of the nba) or the player's own pocket (sponsorship) |

"Anta Sports Products Ltd., a Chinese athletic shoe company with 4,000 retail outlets in that country, inked a four-year arena signage deal with the Rockets back in 2007. Yao helped secure the 20-year, $100 million naming rights deal for Houston’s arena, which opened in 2003. Toyota was looking to expand sales in China, and signed on after Yao’s rookie year." |

Anta was due to Houston's owner becoming it's 2nd largest shareholder (that deal is probably more about shifting profits to avoid double taxation), Yao wore Reebok (Adidas), Toyota Center belongs to the county, so again it's someone else making the money. |

Yao was a big part of securing the Anta deal, they are a Chinese shoe company. If you think Yao had nothing to do with it you are delusional.

You seem to be completely missing the point here, the teams don't make much out of the players from these overseas markets, as the money primarily goes to either the league or the players themselves. |

You might want to have your washing machine looked at. Seems like it is stuck on the spin cycle. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Linsanity was a global news phenomenon that created a lot of international non-Asian fans who now follow Lin from team to team, like this French girl (she has a blog too, but it's in French, so I have no idea what she's writing). It was a big uplifting underdog news story breaking barriers and setting historical records that was covered around the world in places like Europe and Australia and Latin America, not just Asia. Since they don't live in the U.S., they have no local geographical allegiance and feel free to hop from team to team following Jeremy Lin.
And they're not Asian, unlike the stereotypical assumption on bigoted sites like Clutchfans (where pictures posted to make fun of Lin fans are invariably caricatures of Asians, or racist jokes tolerated making fun of accents by interchanging "L" and "R").
As a matter of fact, one of the most consistent and staunchest media voices advocating for Lin and frequently covering him, even during his less spectacular moments on the Rockets, is the Latino Post.
Lin has a global following, both Asian and otherwise. |

Good move. Almost nobody is going to watch Rockets games if there's no Jeremy Lin. |

There was a lot of discussion about this last year in Houston. Upshot seems to be that, yes, a lot of the direct sponsorship money goes to NBA and the team only gets a percentage. But the relationships give rise to other deals which can be very lucrative for the team owner.
Don't ask me for details. Because I am not that guy. But the arguments seemed pretty sound. |

Sponsorships monday (e.g. Maxxis) goes directly to Lakers as this will go to the stadium adverts etc. anything lakers make from the stadium directly goes to lakers pockets (e.g. ticket sales, adverts, food sales, Exclusive TV deals like Time warner)
but NBA merchandise such as Jersey sales, T-shirts, mugs, caps, league pass, goes to NBA and get distributed across all teams. |
