NYTimes Article (9.26.14):

Excerpts that I thought were interesting (To LG/Lounge):

Quote:

KOBE BRYANT: I’m known for sending out cold emails. I love learning from people who take on giants and slay them. I wanted to know how Arianna did what she did, and why.

....

Quote:

PG: There’s your Showtime documentary, “Kobe’s Muse,” in November. What’s that?

KB: You’ll see all the things I do, on and off the court. Every little detail, every tidbit, every improvement. And from that, we peel back the layers to get to who I am — because you can’t understand what I do without understanding who I am.

Quote:

When you watch me shoot my fadeaway jumper, you’ll notice my leg is always extended. I had problems making that shot in the past. It’s tough. So one day I’m watching the Discovery Channel and see a cheetah hunting. When the cheetah runs, its tail always gives it balance, even if it’s cutting a sharp angle. And that’s when I was like: My leg could be the tail, right?

many more.. I enjoyed reading it.

Kobe credits the leg kick on his fadeaway to a cheetah, not Dirk.

He counters some myths about him though. He admits he actually gets a decent 6-8 hours of sleep now. I hate to admit it, but I think the old Kobe is gone, and he even admits it. The edge isn't there as much. He's focusing on what's next.... after basketball. I don't blame him.

That supposed 4-5 hours of sleep is unhealthy

I think Kobe's doing the right thing by branching out and starting to lay post-basketball roots. He's going to have a fascinating post-basketball life and if he desires, has considerable influence to wield (like his homelessness cause for example) to change the world.

I hope he does more than that. I hope he finds another challenge to master. Maybe he can write, or make films?
