Lakers trying to get Pacers to dump Roy Hibberts salary on us.

Thats the hold up to signing the rest of our players.

He fits the 1 or 2 year plan, most likely 2 year plan since he pretty much sucks and will take the player option 2nd year.

Lakers desperately need a big man, even if he sucks.

You may be onto something. There was a rumor that they were quietly shopping him, if so it does fit into a 2 year plan if they indeed don't see a potential fit on the market next year. A lot of the stud players like Aldridge and Gasol could likely take the extra year to stay in their cities. If you justify that Love signs elsewhere and Rondo is the only real FA you have a shot at (though it's early), its something to consider....maybe.

My issue is I don't know how desperate Indy really is. Its not like they'll have luxury tax issues or one of their own that needs a max deal next year. They'll likely hope that Hibbert snaps out of whatever got into him last year especially with Lance gone. That shouldn't matter as much, but maybe they think it will. All I know is that if they're that desperate to deal his 15 million next year and we're talking a Hill for Hibbert deal I tax them hard. Make them send a future 1st, even if its heavily protected for the first year or two. Then you gamble that he can be the rim protector and go back to getting at least 8 boards a game. He has put some Pacers fans through enough, but that would be a major coup by LA if he could return to what he used to be. I doubt it happens, but yea you may be onto something.

for who though? Hill/Nash? Ok I could go with that!

Hibbert/Sacre
Randle/Boozer
Johnson/Swaggy
Kobe/Xavier
Lin/Clarkson

That's a solid playoff team.

Why would they trade Hibbert? They lost Lance. Don't need the cap space anymore.

It was a thought in the back of my mind also. I don't know how they get something like this done, but I'm on board with the idea.

Lakers dont need to trade a player. Lakers are under the cap to absorb Hibberts contract, maybe throw a pick back to them. Hibbert is my suspicion on possible expiring contract lakers are looking to acquire which would explain the hold up in signing everyone else.

Yeah, don't see Pacers blowing it all up this year though. Yes, they lost Lance, but Hibbert is their defensive anchor (co-anchor) with Paul George.

If would be great if Kareem's campaigning for him to come to lakers though hehe.does he have a player option for the remaining year of his contract? Can he come to us? The salary cap nightmare though....maybe its only possible after Lakers let nash go by Jan/Feb. Then Hibbert can come to us by then.

Again, just a pipedream...

Hibbert may be an option in 2015 IMO for the Lakers, not that he represents the best one. Whether that's a max contract, that's the question.
