Dominated… This game was over in about 2 minutes. The Warriors quickly pounced and the Lakers were quickly down double digits. This was barely watchable as the Warriors had a 100-60 lead after three quarters.

This was largely a midrange-shooting offense from the Lakers. The Lakers missed Lin and Clarkson’s dynamic (and, of course, Nick Young). They got very little penetration via the dribble, pass or post into the heart of the D, and they didn’t shoot threes (just 0-3 for the game). So everything was in that in-between, midrange area and often contested well.

You have to get the D to collapse and scramble to get good, high percentage shots. They got none of that. Instead, you saw the offense stall a number of times with guys picking up their dribble and holding the ball as the shotclock ticked down. Very little flow and continuity to what they were trying to do.

Asked if he’s seen a team start with 2-23 shooting like the Lakers did, Kobe joked, “I might have started a game like that myself.”

Meanwhile, the Warriors were killing them.

“They got inside and outside, so we didn’t do a good job taking away anything,” Scott said. Defensively, Scott didn’t play their best defensive big, Ed Davis, and the team looked slow to get back in transition. The Warriors ate them up.

Kobe -- -- Not a good game for Kobe. In the first half, nearly all of his shots were highly contested, low-percentage looks. In the second half, he tried to orchestrate the offense some, but it amounted to very little. He didn’t have much offensive help from anyone else on the court. “That made it that much harder for Kobe because they were able to put two or three guys on him,” Scott said. He liked Kobe’s effort, picking up guys with pressure D and playing hard, but his shot wasn’t there and he made little impact overall. He had a team-low -39 as the starters took lumps in the first and third quarters. Kobe said they were a bit tired from the practice earlier in the day. “We haven’t started tapering down yet,” Kobe said, mentioning he felt everyone would look a bit more active. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 3-13 shooting to go with 1 board, 5 assists, 4 steals, 1 block, 4 turnovers and 2 fouls in 24 minutes. He was a -39. The Action: He threw a pass away in a crowd. He missed a forced elbow jumper. He missed another elbow turnaround with the shotclock low. Way short on a jumper from the top of the key, layup the other way. He missed a baseline turnaround in the post. He threw up a wild prayer trying to split a double team in the lane. He missed a baseline jumper. He swished a pull-up from 17 feet out. He missed a long, forced wing jumper. He attacked a lane and couldn’t finish in a crowd. Second Half: He missed a pull-up wing jumper to start the half. He and Wes botched a handoff, layup the other way. He finally got a good look off a screen and buried the wing catch-and-shoot jumper. He forced a pass in the lane, turnover, but swiped the outlet back. He found Boozer for a FT jumper. He slipped and lost the ball, score the other way. He banked in a leaner from the left side. He missed a wing pull-up jumper. Bad pass on the perimeter by Kobe and it forced Randle into a foul.

Nash -- -- Back in the starting lineup and he got torched. Curry came out of the gates firing and the Warriors got whatever they wanted against the soft Lakers defense. Offensively, nothing looked simple or smooth like it does when Nash has the ball in his hands. The spacing and shooting around him made for awkward possessions. The offense just isn’t flowing. How many times did we see Lakers pick up their dribble and look around as seconds ticked away to try to find someone to pass to. “Steve is still not yet completely healthy right now,” Scott said. Nash pulled himself after his first stint. The Stats: He had 3 points on 0-5 shooting (3-3 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 1 foul in 12 minutes. He was a -26. The Action: He was blocked in a crowd, three-pointer the other way. He undercut Curry on his third three in a row for an And-1. He made a tech FT. He missed a running one-foot bank. He threw a pass away later in that possession. He missed a pull-up wing jumper, fading a little. He stripped a man under the hoop to ignite a break. Wow, Wes choked a two-handed breakaway dunk off Nash’s blind, no-look, over-his-head pass down court to him. He missed a pull-up jumper off a screen. He attacked a lane and missed with his left (dunk the other way). Second Half: He did not play in the second half.

Hill -- -- Surprising numbers with the 8 points and 7 boards in limited minutes. That’s double-double pace ball. He did hit a couple of jumpers in this one and had a nice reverse putback in the second half. But the Lakers bigs were thoroughly outclassed and really had no chemistry on the floor. “We got a lot of stuff to work on. That’s the good thing about preseason,” Hill said. After Hill’s first score, the Lakers made just one of their next 22 shots. The Stats: He scored 8 points on 3-8 shooting to go with 7 boards (4 offensive), 2 assists, 1 block and 3 fouls in 21 minutes. He was a -23. The Action: He sank a one-footed elbow jumper off a deflected pass for the Lakers first score. He missed a point-blank tip. He choked an easy one-hander. He missed an 18-footer. He iso’d, slipped around his man baseline and was fouled on the reverse, he made both FTs. Second Half: He sank a step-back 16-footer straight away. He sealed his man, grabbed an offensive board on the other side of the rim and put it in before coming down. He missed an 18-footer.

Boozer -- -- The Hill/Boozer combo has not looked good to start games. They just have too little footspeed defensively and too little rim protection to make up for mistakes. I know Byron wants to lean on his vets, but all we’ve seen from this unit is the Lakers getting into a big holes to start. They need to either figure something out quickly or Scott needs to experiment while the games don’t count. “We got work to do. We’ll get in the lab and get better,” Boozer said. The Stats: He scored 10 points on 4-10 shooting (2-2 from the line) to go with 4 boards and 1 foul in 17 minutes. He was a -30. The Action: He missed a baseline jumper. He missed an elbow jumper. He missed a turnaround. He hit a jumphook in transition. He drew FTs taking contact in transition, he made both. Second Half: He missed a 17-footer, layup the other way. He was blocked on a layup attempt. He missed an 18-footer. He drained a short jumper in the lane over his man. He sank a FT jumper. He got his man off-balance and hit the open FT jumper.

Johnson -- -- How can you blow the one highlight play of the game for the Lakers? He took an over the head, no-looker from Nash in for an uncontested dunk and choked. That’s how the game went for the Lakers…just a big letdown. Wes didn’t do much on either end of the court. He was fading a bit too much on his jumper. Energy-wise, he needs to have more than 1 board and 0 steals. The Stats: He had 4 points on 2-7 shooting to go with 1 board, 1 assist, 1 block, 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 23 minutes. He was a -26. The Action: He airballed a wide open baseline jumper in transition. He bricked a fading pull-up jumper, poor shot selection. He was blocked on a layup in transition. He choked a Nash highlight, unable to finish a breakaway two-handed dunk (uncontested) after Nash threw a pass over his head down court to him. He sank an 18-footer after a defender flew by. Second Half: He crowded Klay and gave up a layup. He missed an open corner three on a kickout. He sank a FT jumper, scooping up a loose ball. He attacked down the lane and scored a layup.

Randle -- -- In a blowout, you’re hoping to at least see your rookie get some minutes and work on his game. Randle did a good job getting his boards, but looked a bit out of sync offensively as the Lakers really had little purpose to what they were doing. He did hit a jumper, not hesitating as he was in the last one and also had a nice And-1 jumphook across the lane (more please). He was, however, turnover prone. Nothing looked smooth. “I just got to be patient and understand the game and take what the defense is giving me,” Randle said. You can see the Nash and Kobe talking to him on the sideline, along with Scott. They know he’s got the talent to be an impact player and it’s nice to see him very receptive to all that. “I’m okay with any rookie that’s willing to learn,” Worthy said. The Stats: He scored 4 points on 2-7 shooting (0-1 from the line) to go with 6 boards, 3 turnovers and 3 fouls in 19 minutes. He was a -8. The Action: He attacked from the wing, took contact and hit the And-1 jumphook, he missed the FT. He missed a runner, but Sacre put it back in. He swished a confident looking 18-footer. He missed a pull-up elbow jumper. Second Half: He switched, then failed to rotate when a teammate covered for him. He had to heave up a 20-footer to beat the shotclock, we got it back. He tried to post up and lost the handle out of bounds. He missed a wide open jumper from the top of the key. He blew past his man and was hacked with no foul. He was called for a travel a few seconds later. He missed a short baseline fade in transition.

Price -- -- With Lin out, Clarkson out and Nash only able to play the first half, Ronnie got the start in the second half, which was probably his first run with the starters. In the first half, he hit a few jumpers later into his stint, but didn’t offer much dynamic on the floor. Steady minutes, though. “I just love Ronnie’s toughness,” Scott said. He competed hard, maybe too hard when he lost a shoe and threw it to try to knock a ball from the opponent. “It did stop the fastbreak so we only gave up one point instead of two or three,” Scott said. That ended up being the Laker highlight (or lowlight) of the game. Sad. The Stats: He scored 9 points on 3-6 shooting (3-3 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers and 3 fouls in 33 minutes. He was a -12. The Action: He doubled unnecessarily and gave up a wide open three. He missed an open elbow jumper, got it back and lost his shoe, then he threw the shoe at the ball and was called for a tech. He sank a sideline pull-up jumper off the two-man game. He iso’d and hit a 17-footer over Curry. He sank a long wing jumper standing on the three line. Second Half: He fumbled a ball away. He missed a long jumper. He was fouled on a three and made all three FTs. He missed a corner pull-up jumper.

Sacre -- -- Yikes. A tale of two halves for Sacre. He doesn’t give enough defensively to make up for what happened on the offensive end in the first half. The Warriors weren’t even guarding him, which makes it 5 on 4 against the Lakers offense. That was ugly. In the second half, he started to knock down a few and actually ended up leading the team with Ellington in scoring. When Sacre is your leading scorer, you’ve got problems. With Davis playing strong in the first two and Kelly about to return, it will be interesting to see what happens with the rotations. The Stats: He scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting (2-2 from the line) to go with 5 boards, 2 assists, 1 block, 3 turnovers and 2 fouls in 27 minutes. He was a -18. The Action: He grabbed a missed Randle drive and powered it up and in. He missed an open baseline jumper. He missed a wide open wing jumper. He couldn’t handle a pass from Randle in the paint. He fumbled another pass that hit him in the hands, turnover. He threw a backdoor bounce pass away next time down. Second Half: He scored a jumphook when the D let him cut down the lane and take an easy pass. He sank an open baseline jumper, got to hit those if they aren’t covering you. Good D forcing a tough brick from the perimeter. Nice rim run to get low position, he got the ball and swished the short turnaround. He blocked a layup on help D. He knocked his man down in the post and was fouled on the layup attempt. He sank a baseline turnaround from about 15 feet. He posted up and short-armed a good look at a jumphook at the front of the rim. He missed a turnaround in the lane.

Tyler -- -- Better minutes from Jeremy as he was able to knock down a couple jumpers and throwdown a putback dunk. He and Appling managed the team high -3 while on the court. Garbage time action against the Warriors deep bench. The Stats: He scored 6 points on 3-5 shooting to go with 5 boards, 1 assist, 1 block and 3 fouls in 11 minutes. He was a -3. The Action: He took an inbounds pass, up-faked, took a dribble and hit the 17-footer from the left elbow at the buzzer. Second Half: He attacked baseline, spun and bricked badly. He missed a short putback on one end, then went down hard on the other end getting a back ride on a player who put the brakes on. He grabbed a Sacre miss, pumped and slammed it back down. The offense stalled so he hoisted up and rattled in a 19-footer.

Ellington -- -- It’s hard to imagine that Price, Sacre and Ellington would get the bulk of the minutes in any game, but that’s how it went tonight. With Young, Henry and Clarkson out Ellington has benefited and made a reasonable case for the Lakers keeping him. He and Sacre led the team with 12 points. The Lakers shot just 0-3 from three in this game, Ellington taking and missing two of those. That’s a bit extreme to see that few shots and no points from behind the arc. Ellington also needs to knock some of those down to cement a role with the squad. You’ve got to have some three shooting in this league. The Stats: He scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting (0-2 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers and 1 foul in 28 minutes. He was a -7. The Action: He drained a top-of-the-key jumper. He swiped a pass, pushed it out and was fouled on the breakaway dunk attempt, he made both FTs. He missed a rushed pull-up three. He missed an open three. He missed a leaning pull-up jumper straight away. He elevated over Bogut and scored a layup on the break. He sagged off of Klay and gave up a three. Second Half: He sank a lob entry with catch and score to beat the shotclock. He missed a long wing pull-up. He scored a layup off a give and go along the baseline. He forced a horrible post entry pass, turnover.

Smith -- -- Some more minutes for Roscoe, but not a lot of impact on the floor. He did have a nice drive, curing into the lane from the corner and drawing FTs for his only score, but little else. The Stats: He scored 1 points on 0-2 shooting (1-2 from the line) to go with 2 boards, 1 steal, 1 turnover and 4 fouls in 19 minutes. He was a -3. The Action: He curled into the lane and drew FTs, he made one. Second Half: He was blocked on a layup on the break. He was called for a clear-out foul.

Appling -- -- Not a good sign for him making the squad if our PG spot is depleted and he’s only getting 3 minutes. Not really any time for him to make an impact and showcase his game for other teams, either. The Stats: He didn’t score on 0-1 shooting from three to go with 1 turnover in 3 minutes. He was a -3. The Action: He did not play in the first half. Second Half: He was called for a travel. He airballed a jumper at the buzzer.

Brown -- -- If you want someone who can stretch the floor, Jabari is probably one of the better perimeter shooters on the team. Doubtful at this point that he has any kind of shot to make the team considering he and Appling only got token minutes at the end of a massive blowout. But it would be nice to see him get some good looks and show his range. The Stats: He didn’t score and had 1 turnover and 1 foul in 3 minutes. He was a -3. The Action: He did not play in the first half. Second Half: He overplayed, got backdoored and fouled.

Scott -- -- Third game in a row the Lakers have given up huge points out of the gates. The starters may be vets, but they are not bringing it… The Lakers got killed in the first two minutes, giving up 14 points. Poor D and poor shot selection… Scott finally called a timeout down 20-4 midway through the quarter… He brought in Randle and Sacre for Boozer and Hill, down 19… Lakers just looking clueless on both ends of the floor… They trailed 39-13 after the first quarter. Ouch… He started a Sacre, Randle, Smith, Ellington, Price unit… Sacre looking horrible offensively (Warriors not even guarding him). The Lakers fell back 52-20 as the Warrior second unit beat up on the Lakers before the first unit returned… He finally sat Sacre for Hill and Smith for Johnson… He sat Randle for Tyler, uggh. I guess no Davis this half… The Lakers trailed 63-36 at the half. The Warriors shot 61%, the Lakers 29%… He started Price for Nash, who decided to rest… He sat Wes for Ellington midway through the quarter… Then brought in Sacre for Hill, no Davis in this game… He brought in Randle for Boozer with 3:26 left… Deep garbage time run in the fourth quarter… The Laker execution on both ends of the floor is horrible. Offensively, they have no purpose. Scott wasn't happy with the screen setting. Defensively, they are getting killed in transition and in the half court… The Warriors won the fastbreak 32-8…

Thanks for the write-up, DB. I got to give you credit for this one especially... I had my face in my palms for a good portion of the game and missed a lot of it.

Wes Johnson has ANOTHER opportunity to prove he belongs and so far he is CHOKING badly. Again. Defend, slash and hit your open looks. It ain;t that hard, Wes. What a waste

Kobe had some lazy passes out there in the 3rd and I think he and a lot of the guys may have been tired. Not sure about him playing the ENTIRE quarter of these games.

The team looked awful tonight. Warriors had more 4 point plays than the Lakers had 3's. That's not good.

Waiting on Nash is a fruitless endeavor. Just let him run the bench. Once Lin is back give him the starting gig.

3 games into the pre season, no need to panic. Lakers run for 1/2 hour before this game. Hope to see Kelly and Xavier in the pre season games to see what they can do. I do like to see Xavier at starting five playing sf in pre season game.

Gotta ignore this one, half the team is out. Almost all our outside shooting. Plus Hill's game is all energy but seems he's is pacing himself out there and with good reason, its preseason.

I completely missed out the shoe throwing defensive effort.

If last year was marked by the image of Chris Kaman lying down on an empty bench (injuries), this year can be marked by Ronnie Price throwing his shoe at the opponent (defensive futility)

I actually don't think it will be that bad -

DB, im leaning Price and Tyler with Ellington a victim of the numbers game (too many SG/SF once everyone's healthy). Who of the three do you think they keep?

Nice write up DB. The route was written on the wall for this game with many of the key young players out and GS already looking in mid-season form.

I thought Price had a solid game as well aside from a couple of funny moments.

Sacre was horrible at the beginning but rebounded with a nice 2nd half. Regardless, I think that Ed Davis should be ahead of him in the depth chart.

Kobe had a poor game but he fought hard on the defensive end which shows his pride and leadership. It just wasn't his night, I'm sure this was an anomaly and that he'll be back in the groove more often than not.

Poor Nash, after he got torched early by Curry and looked totally out of it on both ends. He looked great in the first game so this might be a health issue.

They ran 1/2hr before the game? I wonder if that's why Kobe had no lift and Nash was slow as well. I'm hoping that the "old school" training philosophy is not affecting this team already.

Games like these are needed to see what we have or don't have imo. The dynamics will be much different once everybody's healthy, especially with Young.

Maybe I'm a bit sour right now but I didn't like the way GS was relentless throughout, they had the KO early but seemed like they kept pounding without mercy and Curry even tried to show up Kobe. It's all good when it's during the regular season but come on....

I've got to think Price and Ellington are front runners if you look at minutes distribution.

Absolutely. There is a significant chance Nash goes down, for long periods or completely. No way they leave only Clarkson on the bench if that happens. Price is in. Ellington can shoot, handle a bit, and defends OK, and hustles. No way they add a 7th big and cut him IMO, especially with injury risks in Kobe and X.

The Warriors are a proven playoff team, we shouldn't be upset at all that we lost to this team by as many as we did. They're going to make a strong run in the playoffs.
I think what we should take note of is how un-athletic our current starting five is and how this will pretty much be the outcome if Scott doesn't make some much needed changes and build chemistry now.
Long are gone the days of pound it and ground it basketball. Everyone is quick and agile and defenders need to keep up. Our most athletic defender couldn't hang with any of there perimeter players, Johnson was getting killed out there. Hopefully the coaching staff makes the right decision to get us adequately prepared for the season.
