Mike, if you had to predict, how much do you think Porzingis will develop this year? What do you think his chances are of being a top 5 pick?
I'd need to watch 5 games throughout his past season so I could see a pattern.
We all know he needs strength. He has a LOT of TWITCH to his game. That, tied to his length, footwork, speed, quickness, and vert., allows him to get away with a lot.
I watch him and it's like watching a different version of Kirilenko. Both skinny. Both with great twitch. Both with tremendous defensive abilities. Kirilenko had the IQ and the passing. Porzingis has the 3-point touch.
I don't think highly of the current elite prospects of the upcoming draft. Yeah, Okafor at #1, but the wing players just completely lack any real creativity offensively.
He's got a good shot at Top 5. I think he's a Phoenix Suns/GSW type of stretch PF. Speed, range, quickness, team defense. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
okafor looked flabby and sick up until this summer. now he looks shredded as fuark. he might GOAT it up this season. lakers pls be awful enough to keep that pick
edit 2: okafor is getting a lot of "best since duncan" but he's not even a tenth of the defensive player duncan is. if anyone has duncan potential it's just embiid really. how that plays out depends on embiid's injuries
My money is invested in Towns, long, athletic(as athletic as almost any NBA big guy combine measurement wise) and skilled. He's as sure as a star as Anthony Davis was, but not quite the ceiling. Still a superstar. Bigger Kevin Love.
Finally got around to watching Levert's scouting video. Pretty impressive, seems his weaknesses are very fixable. He seems like he's in the JJ/Roy mold.

That's why I like him. You can fix defensive posture and add strength. Everything else is there. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
I can definitely see him flying up the board in no time this year. He'll probably be getting a bigger role now that Stauskas is gone, and he seems to be one of the very few true creating guards in this year's draft.
I understand that but if Randle does show that he can be a great player and we draft Okafor, then one will eventually have to be traded. Both are post players and neither are jump shooters or great defensively, wouldn't be a good fit. This is why I would want Stanley Johnson or Mudiay instead.
Disagree.
If Okafor and Randle get a midrange game, the talent is kept and the Lakers have a bigman advantage over the rest of the league.
I really don't like Mudiay. I think he's overrated.
Agree here. Randle needs to develop that jump-shot. Marc and Randolph work fine together, and why? Their both good mid-range shooters that don't crowd the paint when one is operating inside of that painted area. You add Randle's ability to be quicker, more dynamic, better handle than Randolph, and IMO, if you could add an Okafor with his size and length, that's a great front-court for years to come...

It's not a strong PG class.
And there will be some decent FA young PGs available. I am a big BPA person, but if it is close between a point and another position, I hope they take the other position. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Dunno if others feel this way, but the one year in a long time that I feel like we are going to have one of those top picks... every one in the top of the draft (or at least widely considered) have problems. It's just too bad that the Lakers couldn't be terrible in the year in which the draft is stocked with more projected stars. _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. wow, thanks for introducing me to him. just might be my favorite wing prospect. skill off the dribble + 6'10, that's my fav type of wing. and im not too high on the other wings in this class.

The scary thing is he is only like 15 years old in that video.
