i hope Yankees, Red Sox or Cubs go after Bumgarner hard this summer, prey him away from the Giants. and then we go after Panda to shore up our 3rd base. another thing, why are the Dodgers always reluctant to call up top prospects? look at Joe Panik, the guy was a late call up and he played a big role in Giant's title run.

He's not a free agent and he's under contract to the Giants until 2017, 2018 with conditions and 2019 at the discretion of the Giants.....So by the time he is available he'll probably have peaked.

The Giants have him next year for $6.75 million. The guy who put the team on his shoulders and thought he was Sandy Gibson, making only that much money, and some team is going to pry him away?

You might want to look for an alternate dream.

Sucks that I can't tease Hunter during the offseason when he goes to the gym. Dodgers are at least getting there as long as they stick to the long-term vision, but they really need to plug up some holes. At least there's the Kings, who have gone about doing things the right way. If anything, the Kings are the blueprint for what the Dodgers need to do.

What? The kings have a star studded roster. They just dont choke

It's more than that. Them not choking is a by-product of what the GM built. Dean Lombardi had a very specific game plan to build the team, i.e. concentrate on building from the goaltender out, draft and develop character players that fit the kind of makeup they want for the team, get players that "have Kings tattooed on their ass" as he once stated, never trade for rentals, etc... They completely revamped their minor league system to the point where they're like the Detroit Red Wings in terms of the envy of the league in player development.

The Dodgers are only in phase 1 of their building plan, which was to make a big splash with trades and being a playoff team. They now need to further along the development of their farm system and make smart managerial decisions. Keeping Mattingly when a much better option in Joe Maddon is available isn't a very smart decision.

This is the kind of posts that makes me agree with Banning people from specific threads. For someone who's supposedly wanting or is in an Ivy league school, you seem pretty damned clueless when it comes to sports.

CC goes way back here. He doesn't believe nor care about what he says in this thread. I don't think he even follows baseball. This is just throwing out a comment to elicit a response.

Yup, which is why banning people from specific threads is a good idea. Its not even like the Kobe contract thread where people had legitimate arguments. Candycanes is just being a dick.

I get it. We get it.

Kershaw choked. The Dodgers lost.

Anything baseball related, he lurks in and posts some stupid comment because he's likely bored out of his mind in Ithaca. He even called the Commissioner's trophy as the Cup. You'd think someone with even a remote interest in baseball would do a little research.

Kershaw beat up CC and stole his candy canes when they were little, hence the unending malicious attacks CC makes towards Kershaw at any moment.

Lots of rumor about Gabe Kapler coming to the Dodgers in some capacity on social media. Friedman is definitely pushing the Dodgers to the new school line of thinking with advanced stats. Donnie is probably going to have the non-pitchers bunting a lot less. Moneyball with lots of money. It will be fun to see how this ends up.

Dumb trade. Giants like Bumgarner because of what he's accomplished in the postseason for them. Not to mention he's getting paid an average of $7 million dollars over the next 5 years. So he's cheap as well. As far as the Dodgers go their not going to give up on Kershaw if they are paying him that much money. So he's had a couple of post-season disappointments. They aren't going to let go of their ace before he breaks thru...thats just dumb. This would be like the Lakers trading Kobe because he was a bust in the postseason back in 1997 and before he broke thru.

why? it's the perfect timing to make manager change, can we give Rays some draft picks for Joe Madden already.

I think that is the opposite direction that Friedman and the Dodgers want to go. They are right in wanting to develop their farm system, only it will take time. Wasting picks is something they did from the 90's to now. It will take a few years to get that pipeline going, but building through the farm and bringing in missing pieces is the way to go, and I think that is the goal of this ownership group.

our stars are nearing the end of their prime, AGon, Kemp, Ramirez (if he stays) are all 30 and over, and we are this close to smell the world series, so why pause now to improve our farm system? we should get the right manager in asap and try to make another run or two before these guys pass their prime.

Do you want years of competing or a year of competing?

This is the mindset that got the Lakers into this mess where they tried to win one last 'ship for Kobe and we all know how it turned out...
