Last season in terms of local TWC rating, the Lakers dropped nearly 50% in TV ratings. With this saw an all-time peak in Clipper ratings coming the closest they ever have to Laker ratings. Although with the 50% dropped and Clippers peak, the Lakers still destroyed them in the ratings.
I first wanted to show you all how the Lakers TV ratings in general dropped last year. Because with all the complaining the biased media does about the Lakers getting National TV games some facts should be noted. First, when you have the most legendary entertaining franchise/team in NBA history you're going to build a following and fan base. Not only total history on the NBA but recent history has seen the Lakers win the most, go to the Finals the most, have the marquee players and have the most entertainment value. So when you build up that following it's going to be hard to just drop them off the map when things turn towards losing. Especially when the Lakers get back one of the biggest draws in NBA history with Kobe. Secondly, what about last years National TV ratings? I'll start off by saying in general NBA ratings have seen a slightly downward trend the last 2 seasons, could be partially due to LAL being down who knows? But last year only the Heat had a higher National TV rating than the Lakers, and there was a bigger margin between 2nd and 3rd than 2nd and 1st. remember that's mostly without Kobe. Of the 5 highest rated regular season NBA games last season on National TV, the Lakers had 3 of the top 5 rated games, and the only common denominator was the Lakers. So the media can complain all they want, but viewership says the Lakers mean ratings. |

We have Kobe Bryant and now Jeremy Lin on the roster.
The ratings will be fine. |

She should just decline the interview and look both studious and concerned like her father. |
Thats you personally thats not the general consensus since thats what Barkley is talking about. NBA fans dont want to watch a (bleep) team. They want to watch the marquee match up if there is one on.
Its gonna happen. Once the Lakers are 10 games out which isnt going to take long, the national games are pretty much over unless there isnt another match up worth watching over Kobe. |
Really? You mean... other people watch TV?
Unfathomable. |

No matter what, you can't just ignore a huge fan base. |

Barkley should also say Jimbo Buss to be fired. Get the Lakers out of national TV so it'll hurt their bottom line $$. Maybe if Lakers lose enough potential $, then Jimbo will get the boot. |

Glad you all agree with the most biased, idiotic comic-relief out there....makes it easy to see who real fans are, I guess. Two games into an 82 game season, and you're ready to take them off TV?!?!
Yeah...who would want to watch trash like this Lakers-Clips game??? Apparently not many of these alleged Laker fans. Take this garbage off my TV now...give me some high quality Sacramento game maybe. Are you really fans??? |

Charles Barkley makes inflammatory remarks, what's new? It's mind-boggling to think this is a man who has repeatedly wanted to run for governor. His lack of statesmanship is on regular display on national television. |

Have to agree, not fair to our players who are young and the team is rebuilding. We are not the attraction we once were. Its not often we rebuild...but it sure does suck!!!!!! _________________ There are the Lakers...and then just a bunch of other teams! |
