If we happen to get a top 5 pick this year should we trade it away to give Kobe one last chance at a ring?

Or should we keep it and have another top young player besides Randle to build around for the future.

No. Hell no. NO

Hoping to tank only worsens the curse, you hope to tank and pick breaks tibia first game in, do not anger the gods of Laker basketball or next draft pick will spontaneously combust.

I used to believe in the Gods of basketball until Cleveland won 3 of last 4 #1 picks.

It's interesting to see this topic year after year. I thought Laker fans never root for their team to tank. I certainly don't see this kind of topic on major Celtics forums.

That is bec, ause fans on a Celtic forum can't spell.

I think you need to realize that not all of the Buss kids are the problems here.

A lot of the blame is placed on Jim Buss. Jim Buss made some terrible decisions over the last few years. Unfortunately, we are now seeing the results of these poor decisions.

I used to think that too, but he's got his kid brother who's been busted with DUI's running our scouting department X_X

I know everyone looks good in their highlights but Towns looks very intriguing to me. Towns + Randle frontcourt would be fun to watch for the next decade...

I never knew that.

Learn something new everyday. This person is "running" our scouting department.

Wow.

Indy will likely play good enough defense to make the playoffs...so no.

Towns does compliment Randle well, but he's going to need a few years to develop. Okafor, Stanley Johnson, and Mudiay looks like they can come in and contribute from the start.

This team doesn't need to tank. Even in their best effort, they will still lose anyway.

Some shady (bleep) went on there, that defies the odds.

Dan had something on them

The thing I don't get about those who root for tanking is what type of culture that brings. As a fan you should never root for your team to lose. Right now I am hoping that the team still gets it together and builds on some type of run. if they don't then and the lakers get to keep their pick then that's great also. I just don't root for the team to lose.

Because intelligent Laker fans know that by tanking (unintentionally of course) we are actually winning. We want the Lakers to be good ASAP and we have no assets besides Kobe. So winning today is actually a loss in the future. It's really not that complicated.

When we're through 10 games and have 8-10 losses, that's when I'm hopping back on team tank. We're going to need to have a bad season of epic proportions to guarantee a top 5 pick.

We might not be this bad. We have a ridiculous schedule to start the season, so we'll see.
