now that the spurs have decided not to extend a max contract to kawahi leonard, do you offer him one knowing theres a chance the spurs would match?
he would def shore up the SF for the future and in my opinion is worth the max

I don't think he is worth the max but based on what his peers are getting from their respective teams the market probably dictates he gets the max. I have a feeling the Spurs won't match it tho, leaving whoever pays him the max to be stuck with a non max player taking a huge chunk of the salary space. With that said, I think teams will be paying a very close attention to Kawhi this year to see if he is worth offering a max contract or not.

Leonard is worth the max and I would offer it. I think Spurs will match any offer more than likely.

He's definitely worth the max. He should be a target. Spurs likely match but you still have to make an attempt, you never know with their cheap owner.

I would not want to. I can't give a player that cannot create for himself max money. But teams won't have a choice.

Good player, but I'm not sure you would see the same potential if he were playing in another system.

From the restricted R.Jax, Butler, Leonard will be definetely match.
Yes, we should make the offer but there is no chance. Bigger chances with the other two.

I think they would match especially with players like Hayward and Rubio getting the max/near max contracts.

I really don't see the Spurs letting any of their core go over. They'll match for sure, whether he's worth the max or not. With Duncan and Ginobili nearing retirement, they're going to need to lock up as much talent as possible long term.

Any palyer that can lock down Lebron and score over 20 on the same night...on the biggest stage...is easily a max player. You got guys like Kyrie Irving and John Wall who have done nothing...and yet they get max contracts. Kawhi doesn't need to settle for less...he should seek the max because he's young and in his prime.

He didn't lock down Lebron though. Lebron averaged 28/8/4 on 57% shooting in the finals. Heat lost because their other players.

I would target Kawai, Jimmy Butler and DeAndre Jordan. Three you g players that can be cornerstones to a GREAT defensive team.

If only they would accept the amount of cap space that we have. My guess is that what we have available will be what each of them get. Maybe less for Butler.

Throw max at Kawhi in offseason still even if longshot. Spurs already shown hesitation to pay up. Wouldn't be surprised to see Kawhi purposely not putting up expected numbers and having lackadaisical season just to make Spurs think they were right about him not being ready and a max player then LA swoop in with the max offer and Spurs decline to match or cave in and forced to pay anyway

possible or pure pipe?

Blazers get Wesley Johnson and Jordan hill - or flip hill for another small forward/piece to package with Wesley

Lakers get Nicolas Batum then try to trade him and rockets first round pick to spurs for kawhi
