Is this a great country or what?

My goodness. What a refreshing change from Billy Hunter and D. Fish. She's gonna kill Silver in the next CBA. She better start getting the players to saving their money now for the inevitable lockout though. Homegirl is BOSS.

I would be surprised if the owners opt out of this CBA.

Me neither. But the players will strike this time.

My opinion, for however little it is worth, is that there will be no strike or lockout this time around. I think that both sides will extract some modest concessions on things that are important to them, but that no one is going to want to go to war with this much money rolling in.

She's just staking out territory in this usual way, trying to use outrage.

Of course, she's wrong about most of the issues, but it's not her job to be right or even truthful. Her job is represent her clients' joint interests as strongly as possible. This is her version of that. It's business, down and dirty, the way it is every day.

The NBA is second in popularity after the NFL..

both the owners and the players would be playing with fire if they went on a big lockout.

There should be limits on max contracts in my opinion, but the cap needs some work.

Yeah, Hunter/Fisher were easily overwhelmed. She speaks a great game so far, and that's part of the battle. Framing the issue publicly helps but then she has to reach the rank and file and convince them that a lockout (and a possibly prolonged one) is worth it. Otherwise owners have deeper pockets.

That's what she's doing right now. Hunter and Fisher didn't bother trying until it was too late. If you start with the message 2 years ahead of time, you have a much better chance of the rank and file getting it.

Yes, the owners have more money and can wait longer, but this is really the best chance the players have of trying to undo even a little bit of that reaming they took a few years ago.

I would love to take a look at the new national TV contract. My guess is that it kicks in at the start of the 2016 season. If the players strike, guess what doesn't start?

Not sure about that. One commentator on ESPN yesterday says that since she had no stake in the game prior to taking on this role, he thinks that for her, everything, from caps to age limits etc are fair game for the players to go after. If she can convince the players that it is in their best interests to follow her, and she is incredibly smart, she might cause major change.

Man, I really do feel sorry for those poor NBA players being so horribly exploited. What a wretched life they have to lead, and with nary a choice in their fate.

I was laughing when I read some of that. She is so right. The funniest part to me was the part about the teams losing money.
