http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2834418/Heroin-swords-GRENADE-LAUNCHER-Troubled-ex-NBA-star-Robert-Swift-arsenal-weapons-drugs-bedroom.html
Quote: | A former NBA player has been charged with a crime after a police raid on the house of an alleged drug-dealer where he was staying uncovered heroin, meth, guns, a grenade launcher and several prostitutes.
Robert Swift, 28, who joined the Seattle Sonics straight out of high school, has been described as a ’heavily armed heroin addict’ by prosecutors in King Country, Washington.
Police raided the property last month, and seized a number of weapons from Swift’s bedroom, including a military-style grenade launcher and sawed-off shotgun.
On Thursday, Swift was charged Thursday with unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun, after police found seven firearms on or under his bed and a 40mm grenade launcher in a safe in his room, in addition to the sawed-off shotgun. |

Quote: | The fallen star has been living with the owner of the house, Trygve Bjorkstam, 54, who Swift told police is his heroin dealer, since he was kicked out of his foreclosured home in suburban Seattle last year.
Mr Bjorkstam, who faces federal drug and gun charges after running his illegal business – which included housing prostitutes and an underground bunker used as a marijuana grow and a shooting range – 100 yards from an elementary school, told police Swift was a ’good guy’ who was helping him collect a drug debt from a competitor. |
Sheesh. |

Guy made $11m in his entire career.
Dude, you're 7 feet tall and can run up and down the court without tripping over yourself. Kwame managed to last a 12-13 years in the league just being a big giant stiff. You almost have to try to (bleep) that up. |

I remember when the Sonics used three 1st round picks three years in a row trying to find a center.
2004 - #12 (C/Robert Swift) lasted only 4 seasons in the NBA
2005 - #25 (C/Johan Petro) best of the three. played 8 seasons in the NBA
2006 - #10 (C/Saer Sene) lasted only 3 seasons in the NBA
All three were on the 2007 Sonics team the year they drafted KD. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Sadly, I do remember Swift. He was immature by 17-18 year old standards, but he had the size and talent to merit a first round pick. His body wasn't ready so his short, troubled career was punctuated with repeated injury. He actually looked good (briefly) in terms of skill and coordination after he recovered from his first injury, at the very worst he looked like he was a couple of years away from being a legit starter. His problem is that he had what looked like an under-developed body (and mind). |

Portland saved them the embarrassment of drafting Oden in 2007. |

Quote: | Ex-Sonic Robert Swift arrested on warrant at attempted burglary
Troubled former NBA player Robert Swift was arrested Tuesday along with another man suspected of attempting to break into a home in Gold Bar.
The Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman, Shari Ireton, tells KIRO the 29-year-old former Sonic was arrested on a warrant from an earlier gun charge and jailed in Seattle.
The warrant was issued in November after Swift failed to show up in court on a charge of possessing a sawed-off shot gun that was found in an October raid on a home in Kirkland was living. His roommate was charged with drug offenses.
The King County prosecutor’s office says he’s scheduled for arraignment on the gun charge Monday in King County Superior Court.
A spokeswoman for the King County Department of Public Defense, Leslie Brown, said Friday it will defend Swift, but lawyers can’t comment without the client’s permission. The department represents indigent defendants.
The 7-foot-1 Swift was selected by the Sonics with the 12th pick in the 2004 NBA draft. Knee injuries shortened his career, and he was cut by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2009. The Seattle Times reported he played in 97 games and earned about $10 million. |
