This reminds me of when Kobe pushed Trevor Ariza's buttons when they played together. Trevor responded well. I think Swaggy will too.

But Kobe has got to stop shooting so much.

I hear you...but, perhaps you should start calling out management for giving up two 1st round and two 2nd round picks for an old pt. guard. What's so funny...if the Lakers attempted to trade Kobe for two 1st round and two 2nd round picks, GMs would ask Mitch to take a drug test -- and Kobe is leading the league in scoring. That's how bad that trade was and now we are stuck with four players in the starting five on one year deals. How can you build trust? Wes, Lin, Boozer and Hill couldn't start on the Kentucky Wildcats.

actually old man kobe has all the room in the world to yell at younger players. anytime you have an old man legend on your team DO NOT expect him to play defense. Just dont. if he plays any, its a bonus. Expect the younger guys to play better defense then the old man. The young guys should not be looking at kobe as their defensive guide. period. he's old, old men dont have the same breaks as they use to. so if they run to fast in one direction thats it. There is no cutting back in the other direction. This means they will leave someone wide open. Some will say well then why gamble? you have to gamble to create extra offense for a bad offensive bunch like ours.

Now as far as this screaming thing is concerned. I hate the internet. Because it makes it seem as if these things have never happened before. what if we had youtube footage of jordan punching kerr? But we dont. Even though we know it happened.

Kobe was yelling at Nick because not only was milsap open on that play(kobe was the closest. But so was korver. Korber is the most deadly of threats on that team. him being open made all of the lakers semi shift towards him as if they were going to get nicks man. you can see it when they show the replay in slo motion. With that said, kobe should've closed out on milsap as well. But who knows how that play started to begin with which placed kobe on milsap? Someone missed an assignment,a switch, or maybe a chance to trap the ball handler so that pass could never be made. But when you have vids like this completely out of context. It just looks like someone is being mean to someone else.

So we give Kobe a bye for his defense because he is so old. But what about his offense: his TS% is worse than the average for 29 out of 30 NBA teams. Oh yeah but he's old--except that John Stockton led the league in TS% when he was 38. But of course Stockton shot a lot less and focused on getting teammates involved.... Maybe Kobe should try that.

maybe if Kobe had a HOF PF to help him and a team that could win 55 games like Stockton did his TS% would be better.

It was Boozers man, and the defense felt the same way. Thats why #25 came up to screen Boozer so he couldn't contest the shot.

I think Kobe should have been the one to close out, instead of a slow-footed big man, who was going to be out of position anyway to grab the rebound in case of a miss... that would have also allowed Kobe to be available for a fastbreak opportunity in case the Lakers grab the board.

I doubt he was yelling about closing out, but about how Milsap got there with 20 feet of space in the first place.

He should yell at Boozer, but someone should also yell at him when he makes a similar mistake.

my assumption was he was mad about that play. I honestly can't figure out Scott defensive system yet. they don't look organized. but on that play alone, if it was me, I prefer Kobe to switch on that shooter, does not matter who it was. Kobe switching on that shooter, IMO, has more advantages... defensively, Kobe is quicker on the close out, Boozer has the better chance of grabbing the rebound. offensively, Kobe can go on the attack immediately in case the Lakers rebound the ball...

Drifts, I'm surprised ... you're normally on point.

If there's anyone that deserves to be scolded for defense this season, it's Booze ... here and almost every other possession too.

He's not even getting double teamed very often.

How about you bring that up in the threads that address this?

Really great example with Stockton btw. Bringing up a dude that never got a ring as an example.

Oh but he plays it the right friggen' way. Guess Lakers fans will just have to settle with the 5 RINGS while being played the wrong way.

Booze is lazy. but as soon as Booze decided to switch on Kobe's man, Kobe should have switched on Boozer's man... there was no time to stop and think about it, or tell Boozer to get back to his man since it's too late for that.

Boozer's an idiot. He ran completely off his man to cover the drive. Lin's man passed it to the cutter which Kobe deflected. Correct rotation would have been Lin covering the drive with the help of Hill and Kobe rotating to Lin's man. Boozer randomly comes off his man for god knows what reason.

wow the hate is strong this season isnt it... well like someone asked you. HOW MANY championships did stockton win? ONE? TWO? no... ZERO.

pass pass pass and dont shoot, and dont be a threat so when the times comes for you to take over a game you cant. you brick open shots. or you pass it to a teammate where he/she isnt nearly as good as you so they dont have what it takes to make such a shot with the game on the line.

Notice all the guys on that shoot to much list that kobe is leading now all time. are champions. multiple time champs at that.

now this is the truth on how you play defense. but to do that. it has to be a culture and you have to play together for years.

I hear you but that's kind of the thing though ... the only reason Booze "decided" to switch was laziness (apathy?) alone. He was not even on his toes.

I don't mind Carlos taking a bite from the Mamba for this.

Kobe & Boozer play absolutely no defense. I don't know how many open shots Ariza had against us last night. Kobe gambles and plays center field too much, even when he knows hes guarding a shooter

Kobe is a legend. Saggy P is a journeyman scrub who gave himself his own nickname and was reject from the Clips. Why not yell at him?

No (bleep), right? People call Kobe fans obsessed, yet when you look at it, his detractors can't seem to get Kobe out of their heads. Just. Can't. Let. It. Go.
