It fascinates me that a few people actually think that it was Hawks fans cheering for Kobe in Atlanta, or Celtics fans cheering for Kobe in Boston. We hear this even though the TV shows images of fans wearing Lakers gear.

I guess there were a lot of tickets for sale in Atlanta on a Tuesday night for a game against a 1-9 team.

Exactly. It's the Laker fans doing the chanting. There are just a lot of Laker fans around the country who are taking advantage of the one game a year to cheer for their team.

I lived in Georgia and you'll agree there is a big Laker fan base there.

Nice city...

Anyone with half a brain knows this. Let's not try to make this into something else because of the OP's wording in the title.

could also be Hawks fans who cheer for the Lakers when they are in town. no one can be certain so the wording of the title is ok.

Haha... I'm sure that gets underneath the skin of the other team, not to mention the die hard fans trying to just root for their own team.

As poor is our record is this year, we just have to remind ourselves that we have a once in a generation player in Kobe Bryant.

A big chunk of film and TV productions have moved from LA to Atlanta in recent years followed by a large number of cast and crew who either relocated or are traveling back and forth between the two cities. What better way to cure homesickness than cheering for the Lakers!
