LOL, that sounds a lot like the crazy logic Allen Iverson fans used back in the day to justify his terrible shooting percentage. I remember fans here mocking Sixes' fans relentlessly for it too. Kobe has been remarkable in generating offense for himself and others, but certainly his shot selection has left something to be desired.

Please don't ever compare Allen iverson and kobe Bryant ever again. It's unbecoming.

Kobes stats for this year are comparable to an Iverson season. That's why people are concerned with his style of play so far.

24.0 Field goal attempts per game
26.7 Points per game
37.8% from the field
28.6% from 3
37.8 usage %
5.1 rebounds per game
4.2 assists per game
1.2 steals per game

Iversons average season as a 76er:
22.9 field goal attempts per game
27.6 points per game
42.1% from the field
30.9% from 3
33.2 usage %
3.4 rebounds per game
5.3 assists per game
2.0 steals per game

So what you're saying is that old man Kobe, with his achilles tear and borken leg, in his 19th season and still without his legs completely under him is playing like a sure fire HOF'er? Not bad. Can't wait until he gets it going as Dominique did later in the season he came back after his achilles tear.

No, his numbers are just somewhat similar, but worse.. He has the worst qualities of Iverson with the low percentages (Kobe's are actually lower) and high field goal attempts and usage percentages (Kobe's are actually higher) without the good qualities, like the athleticism, speed, ability to penetrate and break down defenses, and disruption on defense. Kobe is way too experienced to be playing this way.

39%?

11 days ago (was it really only 11 days? Seems longer) when Jeggs started this thread Kobe was at 39%
11/11 (using Jeggs #'s):
Kobe: 39%
Harden: 39%
Melo: 38%
LBJ: 43%

11/22:
Kobe: .378
Harden: .386
Melo: .473
LBJ: .465

So, Kobe regressed a little.
Harden stayed basically the same
Melo improved dramatically (+20% improvement)
LJB improved by about 10%

Making Jegg's original post & the point he tried to make both premature and wrong, not surprisingly.

11/26 after Grizzlies game
Kobe: 37.9%
Harden: 39.2%
Melo: 47.8%
LBJ: 47.3%

Yep. I said in an earlier post that a comparison to Iverson is actually pretty generous.

And how did you not get banned with such offensive comparisson? Kobe is nothing like Iverson. Kobe loves practice, Iverson didn't practice. Kobe is a lot taller and that works against Kobe (except for blocks and rebounds). Iverson wasn't as exciting to watch and that's why he never got paid like Kobe. Kobe is a natural leader, Iverson was a bad teammate.

^ Don't forget... in addition to Kobe being taller than Iverson, Kobe's name is Kobe. And Allen's? Allen.

If Kobe had Iverson's height and name this season though -- twinsies!

You need to update the title of this thread:

Kobe is now shooting only .379 FG%, just about the bottom of the league for qualified NBA shooting guards and well below the slumping Harden (.392FG%) and not in sight of Melo (.478%).

He needs to shoot less, a bit less iso, especially in the fourth qtr, its pretty painfully obvious to most.

He needs to shoot less, ball handle less, play less, and talk less. The operative word is less.

The original poster (Jegg's) was banned for a while, so he can't fix it
I tried updating the subject, but it won't let me

We have the same problem with the MJ Scoring Record thread - the subject line is hopelessly out of date, but it was created by Jegg's also
