Just watched it now - Shocked that he KO'd Hunt. Hunt has an amazing chin. A healthy Cain should mop the floor with Werdum, though. |

Ok, you guys enlighten me. I practice Muay Thai and Jui Jitsu but don't watch the fights. I did see the highlights of the fight and agree that the flying knee was brutal.
Here's what I dont't understand. Hunt was clearly a better boxer than Werdum. But he knocked him to the ground several times and didn't follow him to the ground. Is that because he knows that Werdum is better in Jui Jitsu and was afraid of getting into a losing position? Or is there something I'm missing? _________________ “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

exactly.. Werdum is a wizard at ju jitsu.. Hunt on top of Werdum is a dangerous place to be. Though he did rock him several times.. and should have followed up.. but hindsight is always 20/20. But who knows..maybe Werdum submits him if he did that.
either way Hunt wasn't ready for this fight. He took it on a few weeks notice.. wasn't in shape clearly.. not to say that WErdum wouldn't beat him again.. but might be closer. |

Free card on FOX today.
Some big HW fights and Diaz back.
Reem looked good, although Struve was coming back from a long long absence and (sickness)
JDS won, but it seems everyone knows JDS' weakness now. Cain revealed it and practically anyone who has some skill and smarts - will repeat this strategy.
Still JDS is clearly #2 HW in the world. But his clock seems to be ticking. |

Former UFC champion Dominick Cruz sidelined with another knee injury
http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/12/22/7436177/former-ufc-champion-dominick-cruz-sidelined-with-another-knee-injury
Quote: | The former UFC bantamweight champion, who was sidelined for years after suffering consecutive knee injuries, has now suffered an ACL injury in his right knee.
"It is with great sadness to report I have experienced another ACL injury," Cruz posted on his Facebook page. "This time it’s in the right knee, opposite side of my first and second ACL injuries."
Cruz, who lost his UFC title due to consecutive injuries, knocked Takeya Mizugaki out in 61 seconds in his return to the Octagon at UFC 178, earning a shot at 135-pound champion T.J. Dillashaw with the victory. However, he won’t be ready to face him any time soon. |
Wow he can't catch a break from these injuries. |

Jones vs. Cormier UFC 182 Jan. 3rd......
I can't wait for this one. I haven't been this excited for an MMA fight in a very long time.
I smell an upset coming. Cormier's been training with gold medalist Khajimurad Gatsalov, who beat Daniel in Athens, and I think this will pay huge dividends. I'm sure Cormier's smart enough not to stand up with Jones and go toe-to-toe. I see him going for takedowns and laying on top of Jon for most of the fight. It's a bit of wishful thinking on my part because I've been disenchanted with Jones and his fake persona and want to see him get his ass beat by Cormier, who I respect tremendously. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

I see Jones trying to take Cormier down every chance he gets.If he can then it will stall Cormier from moving forward, which he has to do to win.I believe we will find out if DC can fight moving backwards. |

sometimes i wonder if the beef is real between Jones and Cormier
like i could tell Rampage and W.Silva had real beef back in the day. Brock and Mir seemed to have real beef as well.
a lot of times, fighters talk all kinds of !@#$ before a fight, then the moment the fight is over, you see them embrace and hug each other. sorry, i consider that fake beef to try to hype a fight. _________________ Dominating every day. |

I think it is real. I don't think DC is the type of person to fake that. Jones might be, as you can see from the on camera personality versus when the cameras are still rolling and he didn't realise.
As for the fight, I don't see DC having much chance of winning this. He won't have the length to stand and trade, and Jones' reach is going to neutralize DC's wrestling ability to a certain extent too because he won't be able to close the gap without taking punishment.
With regards to your point on talking before a fight and then embracing after, I see it like this: You can dislike someone or whatever, but that doesn't mean you don't respect them as a fighter, and after you've fought them you're showing that respect because you've fought them and both of you have put it all out there in the cage. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

i get a feeling this could be a boring snooze fight as Bones tries to play it safe and avoid take downs while Cormier tries to dry hump him to death |

This fight may wind up being a letdown but it's still the biggest fight ufc have had in a long time.

I'm not a MMA expert at all. Any reason why Cormier can't just wrestle and take down JJ and win this one that way? Seems Cormier is the strongest LHW in the UFC by far and JJ will be taken down.
How does JJ win this fight? He has to beat Cormier with kicks or standing up? And considering Cormier trains with Cain, I'm quite sure he's well prepared for that stand up assault.
IDK why JJ is the heavy fav. I actually want JJ to win because he's a far more entertaining fighter, but don't see why he's so heavily considered the favorite. |

JJ has really good take down defense so Cormier could spend a ton of energy just trying to get the fight to the ground. That could leave him tired in the later rounds for JJ to capitalize and catch him for with a quick strike. |
