Would Kevin Ollie, 2 Blue chip prospects, Kobe, a list FA, be enough to lure Kevin Durant

let's say the Thunder don't win a title by 2016.lets say we get a top 5 pick. Both that rookie and Randle make all rookie team in 2016. We sign a legit center in 2015 lets say DeAndre Jordan, theres alot of good center. We hire Durants mentor as coach, kobe takes a pay cure. hell Brandon Jennings takes a home town discount

would this lineup be enough to to lure Durant to la
Coach Kevin Ollie
C: 2015 FA Center
PF: Randle

PG: Mudiay/Jennings

I think we'd need one more star, along with depth, unless Randle and/or our 2015 pick, if we can retain it, turn out to be studs. Westbrook's playing at an MVP type of level and he's only 26 too. I don't see him leaving OKC. Only way Durant leaves OKC is if the team he goes to is championship ready instantly. That team, even with Durant, would need a year or two to gel together and get experience in order to contend.

what if randle and lets say Mudiay just play great and make all rookie team. Kobe is still averaging over 25points. Swaggy still balling and the other young role players playing legit. Lets say in 2015-2016 we make the playoffs too as 7th or 8th seed. its apparent the team has potential just missing that one star. thunder lose for another 2 years. ollie was durants mentor

We won't have a pick this season barring an injury to Kobe or we get a miracle top three slot via lottery. Let it go.

And no, it won't be enough. Wizards are the front runner, most likely, since they won't have a Kobe who will be two years older and instead have a John Wall entering the prime of his career and a ton of young talent.

what if Mudiay proves to be like John Wall. what if Randle bounces back and wins rookie of the year in 2016. durant respects kobe, and what if kobe still playing at a high level but says he wants to just go one more year.

What if, what if, what if. Until it doesn't happen, sure, it's possible. It just isn't likely. We certainly aren't the front runner, not even close. Kobe isn't really playing at a high level now, and he will be two years older. Plus, we have a vivid example of a guy who was playing at a high level at 37-38 who we gambled a crap ton of picks on who succumbed to Father Time and turned out to be one of the worst trades in NBA history. No matter how much Durant respects Kobe (absolutely warranted and I loved his interview), he has to worry about Kobe's age.

I think Washington has a pretty big leg up on us in the Durant sweepstakes.

Agree that if Durant even considers leaving OKC (which I doubt he'll do), it's to go to Washington. It's his hometown, they have a much better team AND they're in the easier conference.

So to answer your question, OP: no, it's not.

Kobe is gonna be 38 by then....
Not much of a window by 2016.
That being said, if they get Durant here, it would be a huge coup.

Not seeing Randle this year certainly makes things cloudy but IF he's some remarkable player next year, we get a rookie who's looking studly, and then we attract a major FA this year, then maybe he'd consider. But as others have said, Washington is certainly enticing: hometown, decent market, John Wall entering his prime as a top 3 pg, Bradley Beal, some really good pieces... yeah, they probably still win out. If Durant leaves it's to win asap. I don't know if we could provide him that opportunity but we still have a big off season where things can change.

IMO, it's far more likely that we end up with Westbrook in 17.

Okafor/Davis
Randle/Kelly
Butler/Hollis-Jefferson
Derozan/Swaggy
Westbrook/Clarkson

That's my pipe that with some very good fortune is not totally impossible (at least individually impossible)

Would the coach qualify as yinoma2001's Ollie Board?

Maybe this is all part of a nefarious UConn plan.

Yes, how dare fans hope for the best for their team and post it on a message board.

Seriously, I may not agree with the optimists, but why don't you (bleep) off?

Jeez man, relax. I wasn't saying don't post it. I was saying, post it in the right place. (You really are an angry puppy!)

If you allow this in Lakers Discussion, then you allow any and all hypothetical scenarios in which multiple hypothetical conditions must be satisfied in order for the event to occur. Can we just limit it to transactions that are rumored by a credible source and not just every person's personal pipe dream?

What is the point of discussing a scenario where all of the following conditions have to occur before you can discuss it?

- Thunder don't win a title by 2016
AND
- Lakers get a top 5 pick
AND
- Randle makes all rookie team in 2016
AND
- Top 5 pick makes all rookie team in 2016
AND
- We sign a legit center (Deandre Jordan)
AND
- We hire Durant's mentor as coach
AND
- Kobe takes a pay cut
AND
- Brandong Jennings takes a paycut

It still won't be enough. Durant is already playing with a top 5 player in Westbrook and a great defensive big in Ibaka. The Wizards are the only team that can compete with that because of Wall, Beal, and Gortat.

Ya why would you want Jennings ? Let's get a pass first defensive minded PG if we have Durant and Kobe. Reggie Jackson would be nice, he can hold his own scoring and defensive.
