It really sucks to admit, but this Laker team gives me zero viewing pleasure whatsoever.

I don't think anybody enjoys watching a game in which they know the outcome is likely to be a loss.

That's cute but they need the attendance to drop drastically too. Staples needs to be half empty ! This product is crap!

It doesn't help that you got a guy like Horry in the studio every other night when he clearly has no chemistry with McGee and Worthy...

I think you must have missed the 160 page tank thread. There seem to be many here.

Its about purpose....if you are watching hoping to enjoy a Lakers victory then you will feel like you wasted your time. If you watch hoping they can lose so they can move up the tank standings, so they can have a higher percentage of getting lottery balls, then it has a purpose.

After Stern blocked that trade it is kind of hard to blame anyone for not watching the Lakers or the NBA any more. I will probably not be watching games after Kobe retires because after seeing the magic, jordan, and kobe era...the whole miami heat / lebron super friend show is good reason not to watch any more. Stars these days have no loyalty whatsoever as well. You got these younger owners now trying to make their team like the Laker brand...and that means more teams are not going to work with the Lakers at all just on that reason alone. It's going to get worse from here...many bad seasons ahead.

The product is crap, but for some reason if you look at the secondary ticket market, the tickets are even more expensive....

My bro gave me a new theory on the decreased ratings.

What is the viewership numbers on TWC deportes compared to last season?

Pau Gasol, a draw for the spanish-speaking population of lakersnation, is no longer here.

I haven't seen very many Los Lakers nights this season either.

I admit it's just a theory (don't know the numbers).

That's a pretty big drop.

This all but ensures that in 2015 free agency, for better or worse, the team will spend money on free agents that aren't placeholders.
hopefully its the right kind of players and not Jordan hill type players with that kind of contract.

If next season is really Kobe's last (as inferred by Mitch), this would make sense.

Well, I think they start the Los Lakers events around the Christmas game.

The ratings went down even further today. I forgot the Lakers were on so didn't tune in. This coming from someone who has been a Lakers fanatic for 40 years. Nice job, Jim.

I don't think stars ever had much loyalty except to themselves. Laker fans probably perceive a higher degree of loyalty because we have been an enviable destination, so if a star found himself here there was no reason for him to leave.

But we certainly benefitted from the "lack of loyalty" of stars leaving teams to come here.

Bottom line: I think "loyalty" is a dumb cliche; to me 99% of the time "Loyalty" is nothing more than the self-interests of a team and a star being in allignment

I've stopped watching these past few games. The quality of basketball is just unwatchable. I've been a die-hard fan my entire life, but this team is unbearable to sit through.

Yeah, the Small Market Mafia and their attempts at seeing to it that we dont get a point guard is comical. I'm done with their league too.

I have to confess, if this means the TWC ledger suffers, I'll feel a small measure of joy. They overpaid for both the Lakers and Dodgers, apparently banking on every cable and satellite outlet kissing their ring and paying whatever price they dictated.

Maybe this'll soften their position over Dodger games.

Jim's fault that you can't remember the game was on? OK.

They are getting $150 mil a year from Direct TV alone, they are doing well.

Oh, I know they're not in the red yet, but they're still not getting close to what they hoped for those Dodger rights, and the two independent transactions were paid for from the same wallet. Does a 28% dip in Laker ratings make DirecTV (or any of the other providers) more or less likely to accept TWC's asking price for the Dodgers? I say less.

I don't really care about the Dodgers, I am a Cardinal fan. Those games are the only Dodger games I watch.

well they clearly overpaid for the dodgers, but every major cable/sat picked up the Lakers.

It was probably a steep dropoff after a slower grind (2012 and 13). I think it's safe to say the realization that futility is with us has finally been internalized and accepted by many fans who were more optimistic only a year or so ago.

hope this is a rude awakening for Jeanie Buss, Kobe the name alone will not sell this team. fans want to see a winning product or at least a team that's developing into a winning product.
