76ers - $20M
Bucks - $7.5M
Magic - $7.2M
Other than the teams with injury exceptions can offer the most Pacers $5.3M (George), Lakers $4.85M Nash. |

As badly as Kobe played last night, it was an aberration for him. Smith does crap like that every time he plays. |

If the Lakers are content with the season being a lost-cause.... then they better write a open letter to the fans and season ticket-holders..... no one is gonna want to watch these bums play lackluster bball for the next 4-5 months...... they are not exciting and don't have much brand to look forward to..... I honestly... think the Lakers are in a current psych and can't decide what to do. |
I think the Lakers have decided what to do: They accept this season is a lost cause and won't do any short term moves that will hurt the future. But if you are waiting for them to send out a press release announcing that, you'll be waiting a long time.
Mitch will simply continue to say the Lakers don't tank and they are always looking into moves to improve the team. And they are. It's just unlikely they'll be able to make any significant move this year.
My guess is we'll miss the playoffs, but we won't be bad enough to keep our pick. No big moves will happen at the trade deadline. Next year, the focus will be on again trying to land some good free agents and hoping Randle develops, while using Kobe to sell tickets.
We aren't going to get better fast. We are beginning a process that will take years. |

I like Josh Smith, but can't see why we'd move for him as we aren't going anywhere, or why he'd be interested in us compared to other teams at this point. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

Smith is his own worst enemy. He has the talent to average around 15-8-4 but because he is hell bent on shooting bad shots and not maximizing his defensive potential he is becoming worthless any team that intends on winning. |

Because we could give him a starting spot... he's better than Wes regardless of how bad he is in relation to his potential. |

Wes Johnson is a better shooter. The Lakers are off getting someone from the D-League. |

For the love of god, Laker FO, don't go anywhere NEAR this schmuck. This guy is one of the biggest losers in the league. He's one of the least wanted players in the league. Don't make a move for the sake of making a move. |

The problem with Josh Smith is that he is hell bent on shooting long jumpers and 3s when he's not good at them. |

He'll go to a contender....the Pistons are paying his salary so he can afford to take the hit salarywise. I don't see why he'll want to waste his time here on the Lakers when they are rebuilding. |

You guys can put money on this right now!
Smith will be in a Houston Rockets Uniform as soon as he clears waivers...
He and Coward are buddy-buddy and he will want to try to get one championship! If Houston can't resign him after this season, he'll play the FA market and get as much as he can! |

thank god we're not going to get him... hoofa...
Sounds like Houston has the inside track. Good, Josh'll destroy them from the inside... Talk about a low IQ lineup, Josh Smith and Dwight Howard in the same lineup? LOL! I wonder what the record is for making mistakes at the end of games? Dwight + Josh will be epic... |

Funny thing is, the limitations in his game are almost all mental.
If he accepted what he is and played to those strengths, he'd be a great addition to any team.
Freakish athleticism, great shot blocker, good in transition, lets himself down with extremely dumb decisions. If he bought into himself as a role player who could play D and get out on the break, he'd be very useful to have. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.

I think that some people TRULY underestimate the logic that some of these NBA professionals have. We have to realize that these players are surrounded by people who are not as dumb as the players may look on the court...
IDK let's look at it this way. Josh Smith Goes to Detroit, a team that he most likely really doesn't like being on. He gets them to give him a Big $$$ deal, then he gets them to "RELEASE" not "TRADE", but "RELEASE" him into free agency for nothing... WHAT ARE THEY THINKING! He's still owed like 20+Million and he will go to another team and play for a championship for peanuts while the Pistons are still breaking him off.
I bet all of a sudden you will see his game pick back up and playing at an all star level... Just watch and see. I bet his agents, attorney's and anyone close with some business savvy has been advising Josh Smith do roll over, just so he can get to a better place and still be PAID!!! |

He's a tweener who can't shoot or doesn't have post moves, I would pass on Smith. The Pistons will start winning now without him.
For Smith to be successful, he needs to be surrounded by shooters. Horford was the perfect fit at C because he can shoot. He would have been a great fit next to prime Stoudemire as well. He's going to struggle for whatever team he goes too if the C can't shoot. |

Why do you think he and Howard get along so well? Very similar. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
