Hassan WHiteside? We needed a shot blocker who is 7 foot .. we keep and try to develop low ceiling Sacre. After Dwight left we needed a center. how could we take risks with Manny Harris, ROnnie Price, Black, but over look Whiteside? Makes no sense

Sacre over Whiteside? You have to be kidding me. Pat keeps winning

um, you know that every other team missed out on whiteside too right? hindsight is 20/20. you could go back and cherrypick something that a franchise should have done.. with all that information you have after events unfolded.

Meh.. 25 already and finally showing some signs. His ceiling isn't that high. But yeah, I would rather have him than Sacre. But you act as if we're the only team that didn't see this coming. Sometimes it's scouting, sometimes it's pure luck.

we had Jordan Hill as our center coming into the year. take a shower get a clue...

we probably had the worse center situation in the nba since Gasol walked out. how could we overlook a low risk high reward player.

BTW, he washed out of the league the first time he was drafted because he wasn't ready. It wasn't because he wasn't talented. He had a terrible attitude when he first came into the league and him going to the D-League was something that was needed to get his development going. Not everyone who is drafted is ready for the NBA. Luckily they have the D-League nowadays for these guys to fall back on. Every year we hear stories about this. A D-League prospect that finally shows promise.

Riley always does this. John Starks, Anthony Mason, Anthony Carter, Isaac Austin, Mike James, Rasul Butler, Udonis Haslem and now Whiteside.

Sometimes a player is sitting in mediocrity until he is put in a situation whereby he is able to shine and take off from there. Trevor Ariza got his chance with the Lakers; Jodie Meeks had his highest scoring average with the Lakers; Jeremy Lin was able to get a big contract from Houston because of what he did on the Knicks. How many teams did Gerald Green play for before enjoying success with the Suns?

There are always going to be players who slip through the cracks in professional sports, it doesn't mean the GMs who missed them are asleep at the wheel. It just means someone was willing to give those guys a chance.

Maybe our crack scouting depth headed by the DUI pissing in public Jesse Buss and the good buddy of Jimmy, Chaz, just missed this one.

Oh, and you had a clue? You knew about him all along? How did every team in the league miss out on him? He was out of the dang league. Look at his game log, even Miami didn't know what they had until recently. LOL! My goodness, so Miami got lucky. Or, maybe you're right. Riley is a genius going against 29 idiots in the NBA. This constant bashing of our own management is tiresome, and cliche.

This same genius took Michael Beasley with the 2nd pick overall. You're going to draft busts, you're going to get lucky, you're going to get it right sometimes, get it wrong most of the times, etc. That's the nature of NBA talent evaluation.. They are wrong most of the time.

Miami did the work to bring out his talent but he's on a 1-year deal there and they have $58 million committed to five players (Bosh, Wade, Deng, Anderson & McBob).

Someone is bound to come in in the off-season and snatch him up.

They have an option on him worth less than a mill for next season. Kinda like what we have we Black. They have a steal with him but still ridiculous thread.

You know who the scouts/GMs missed out on? Some skinny kid out of Lower Merion. Plenty of teams passed up on him I hear.
