Good coach, but they'd have to keep a short leash on him regarding Kobe's minutes. Another guy who reportedly likes to run his players into the ground.
EDIT: posted before I saw someone already brought it up. |

Can't trade coaches for players...I learned that with the Doc to Clippers trade. |

As I said....Pau seems ok/energized there and he was always tired/worn out here. |

Good question....plus do they have enough guts to let Scott go already either now or after the season ends (better for the tank)? |
I don't think we let scott go now, he has to at least finish the season commanding the tank but if Thibbs is available at the end of the season, Lakers will have to think about pulling him now instead of after next season |
I agree having Scott stay thru the season is best (for the tank & it's more respectful to Scott) but if the Bulls want to trade him now....is the tank worth losing out on him? |
If that is the scenario, then he would have to come here knowing it would be in a lost season and maybe just get some of the players familiar with his system but if he wants to come and try to start winning, that might be a tough call. The pick has to be Lakers #1 priority right now (I hope) but having the right coach doesn't come easy. |

I know you were joking but they could "promote" him within the organization out of respect. |

Another coach with a great relationship with Kobe. Kobe and his teammates will listen to him. Do it, Mitch |

The Lakers won't fire Byron after one year, he'll probably be gone after Kobe retires. |

For all the hate Byron gets, I think he's a good coach for the rebuilding process. He can mentor the young guys and teach them what it takes to be a champion and what it means to be a Laker. We haven't had a coach who understood those things since Phil.
Thibs would only be appropriate if we had a team that could reach the finals next season, but even then his alleged offensive ineptness and tendency to run his players into the ground during the RS makes me leery of whether he's a true championship coach. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Exactly why does Thibodeau have a poor relationship with Chicago management? What did they do to make him upset? |

I can't see the Bulls letting a coach like Thibs go, but I said the same thing about the 49ers, so what the hell do I know. |

Don't get excited - Jim tries his best to not hire good coaches. |

If this is his idea of an offensive system, then I don't want him anywhere near the Lakers _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He was probably best not as a coach but as a defensive specialist when he was with the Celtics. Unfortunately, he runs down his players.
I could see the Bulls firing him and the Clippers making him an offer he couldn't refuse to fix the Clippers defense. It would reunite him with Doc. |

Well how many people saw the Mark Jackson firing at Golden State last year? Unless he wins a championship soon, I think his days on the Bulls are numbered, espcially with the problems they are having for a team that is supposed to be at the top of the east. |

Just a FYI. Thib's offensive philosophy is the exact opposite of what Showtime was. Quintessential Eastern conference/central division grind it out team. Oh and coaches who grind out players in practice in LA have been run out of town before. And that's after winning rings too which thibs hasn't in Chicago. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Thib will get criticized as laker coach too but he's far far better than MDA or Scott. I would take him in a heart beat. |

I'm not a huge Bill Simmons fan, but I've always agreed with his theory that you can tell whether a coaching firing is good or bad by how fans of other divisional teams respond to it. As a fan of a different central division team, I'd be ecstatic if the Bulls got rid of Thibs because you know that whoever they hire to follow him is likely to be a downgrade. |

He may work well with a young core of Lakers who will have that fear of God that college coaches give to freshman players. In that sense, it would be a great move. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |
