"Our second unit really is our better unit right now," Scott said. "I like the way they play together." | Then why aren't they starting? |
This is called "Tian Ji Racing", the Dao of strategy...haha...Byron is smart
http://daoofstrategy.blogspot.com/2012/03/sun-bin-art-of-warfare-military-methods_05.html | Would the 2nd unit make us better than a mediocre team that can even "sniff" at being in the playoffs.
Kobe did make the starters "tolerable"
JLin and Boozer were not effective when they were starters
Plan is to develop players like Clarkson and Black | Plan is tanking, need some excuses...
I was being playful about the Tian Ji Racing theory. | BScott can play his best lineup and still lose most of the games since many times they are on the court at the end of games. | Maybe, they also can be competitive and win with good coaching. Everyone wrote off the lakers and Byron rode on it to tank because he has no pressure to win. Both MDA and Scott deserve some blames. | Team is competitive
NBA is a player's league that need superstars to win
Hard to consistently win with your 2nd team as the starters (Lakers and TWolves)
It should be noted that BScott rarely call the plays. It is up to the PGs to call the play, force doubleteams and create/beat their man to prompt the defense to collapse to get clean looks for the shooters.
Coaching is definitely a factor, but execution and being the best when the best is required is solely on the players.
Management's present goals is to see what players they want to keep and develop. There is a need to see how players respond when opposing teams apply greater pressure. Presently we see players put up good stats but in the 2nd half/4th quarter - we have seen errant passes, missed defensive assignments, inability to close at the hoop, shooting percentages and players tightening up. The results has little to do with coaching |
