I know many here have soured on Nash, but if it were up to me, I'd try to bring him on staff as a player development coach next season. Just like Kareem was with Bynum. Clarkson worked with him over the all-star break, and you can already see some of it paying off.

I'd like to see more of that. I'd imagine there are certain things he could show a guy like D'Angelo Russell too should we be fortunate enough to draft him.

What do you guys think? I say do it Mitch.

Love it. He's a positive person with knowledge of the game. Also highly respected by players as a guy who "got it done".

I hear what you're saying, but regardless, you wouldn't want Nash showing our young PGs the ropes?

What if we can draft a guy like Tyus Jones. It'd be nice to have Nash on payroll to show them the ropes

Clarkson has shown continuous improvement since the beginning of the season. It's not about whether he had a particularly good game or not. The thing I look at is that he's consistently better than he was a few months ago. And that seems to correspond with him saying that he's working with Nash.

Player development coach was Mad dog's position last year. Nash should be more elevated - like director of player development. This requires travel and seeing different levels of competition - perfect fit since Nash likes to travel. His open minded and maturity of cultures will give him the best perspective.

Essentially Nash has already retired from basketball, however his salary is still on the books....

As long as he does it for free, he already stole enough money from the Lakers.

I don't see Nash wanting a full-time coaching gig. I could see him looking to get a television announcing gig or something like that. But, sure, I'd love him to be on the coaching staff if he was open to that.

Nash has said that he doesn't want to be a full time coach because of what a grind it is. But I could see him trying to get a front office position.

So now that Steve Nash has been waived, does he or will he still mentor Clarkson? Do the Lakers have to hire him as a "coach" or "consultant" to keep working with Clarkson?

I figure he isn't going to do it for free...at least not on a regular basis.

I figure Nash will step away for a bit. Maybe the game calls him back but I'm sure all the rehab wasn't fun.

Is this like when Yoda trains Luke for a short time and then dies and leaves Luke to battle Darth Vader?

Is Clarkson's training complete? Is he a Jedi yet? No...he must face the Black Mamba....

In his interview he stated that he gave Clarkson and Lin his phone number and told them to call him any time they needed help.

I dont think the Lakers would kick him out if he stopped by.

But I don't expect him there on a regular basis.

Hopefully Kobe won't cut off Clarkson's right hand then.
