RIP Earl Lloyd

He was the first African American to play in the NBA.

What an overlooked icon. It's easy to forget, especially when the League has been dominated for so long by African Americans and the top 20 players of all time probably has 18 or 19 blacks, how much hatred and bigotry he and others who wanted to play the game at the highest level had to endure.

People forget so easily the terroristic tactics of those against blacks at worst and the daily insults and demeaning acts at least that heroes like Mr. Lloyd had to endure.

Every African-American that's ever played in the NBA owes a debt of gratitude to Earl Lloyd for opening the door for us all!

He does deserve more respect surprisingly the Pacers honored him during the broadcast.

Given Indy's racist reputation that's saying something.
