I didn't see the fish breathing. Cats live a long time out of water. I've caught quite a few. You can see movement from them breathing. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hard to believe that's even possible. Would love to understand how the fish grew so large. _________________ Back to Back Yeah, Yeah...and you know that!

That guy is just lucky the fish remained unconscious while he was holding him. I kept waiting for him to start flapping and knock the guy out. |

If you order fried filets to go, you gotta carry them home on your luggage rack like Fred Flintstone. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Many catfish species naturally grow huge, I had a nearby pet store that had a big boy in a tank that looked like the same species tbh, but that one paled in comparison to this one in the article. This one just somehow evaded years and years of capture and death, and it was a Darwinian winner in the food chain as well. Probably just beat the odds to max out in size, of which the majority do not. There's a South American catfish that gets huge like that, too. They sell them small at aquarium fish stores, cannot recall the trade name for them, but they're one of many "standard" freshwater fishes sold all the time that are not really meant to go in a tank. It's because they'll get as big as the tank allows.
Here's a fish called a Pacu. Commonly seen in aquarium shops in the itty-bitty stages of their lives. The pic below is one caught in the wild.

If he released the fish why didn't he record it? I would have believed it if I'd seen the fish swim away. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
