Hey mike_dee,

My g/f got wavefront lasik (not sure what that is, but I heard it's a newer technology?) but the procedure was fairly similar I think. She was able to see a day after she got it. It sort of sucked the day she got it though, because she had to be blindfolded for the remainder of the day. But she could start seeing the next day, which was amazing.

I had a manager I worked for who got Lasik, and it was the same day. He got it and was back at work the next day.

One thing my g/f told me was that her eyes got really dry, so she uses a lot of eye drops nowadays. But I think that's a small price to pay to see. I wear contact lenses so I still have to use eyedrops.

Anyway, good luck, hope all goes well!

I just got wavefront lasik about 3 months ago.

Some discomfort the first day, nothing much really. Plus, its recommended that you sleep the entire first day anyways. The second day I was up and about like normal. Not much dryness in the eyes but I think that depends on the person.

I swear its the best money I have ever spent.

Just find a good Ophthalmologist. Do not go cheap!!!

If you are in the LA area and want a good doc...PM me.

Yeah, I wanna get it too. My uncle and aunt had it and they said it's not that bad. They said your eyes just feel itchy for the 1st day after the surgery but the next day you don't feel any pain at all.

I got it done about five years ago.

I have 20/20 on my left and 20/25 on my right.

I was nearly a bat befor the surgery. In the neighborhood of 20/500 or something.

Everything is purfect except I am sensitive to sun light on really sunny days.

Need to wear shades. Did that anyways.

Dr asked if I wanted a "touch up" said no thanks.

Don't need any more surgery on my eyes.

I had Lasik about 6 years ago. I would do it again in a second. There is some discomfort for about a day and a half but after that you are good to go.

I was playing ball in about 3 weeks (as soon as they OK'd me to wash my face). I did get some sports "goggles" to play with since they don't want you getting a thumb stuck in your eye.

The one thing I always reccomend is go to a reputable doctor who will garuntee the work. My eyesight was 20/20 comming out of the surgery but fell off a bit about six months aftwards. Since my doctor garunteed the work, I went back in for a "touch up" almost a year later for free. He said it happens in some cases where your eyesight is extremely poor.

I'm getting it done at USC's Doheny Eye Institute. They are one of the top 10 eye institutes in the country, so I feel pretty comfy with them. I'm getting the wavefront lasik, I guess it's a bit newer and there are less halos during the nighttime. I'm paying $3900 for both eyes, but I feel more confident going to Doheny than I would going to a place where it's $500 per eye.

I'm very excited. I will post how I feel as soon as I can.

Hey, just had the procedure. I'll admit, I was really scared. I had my appointment for 8:30, got in about 8:40. They put some anasthetic in my eyes, then they put some drops to prevent infection. Doctor came in about 9 am. They put some more anasthetics and then the rolled me over under the laser. They taped by eyelashes and then clamped open my eyes.

Now here is the scary part. I'm laying there, right? My eyes clamped open. I was already sweating. They said, "Stare at that red light." I stared. Then they said, "OK, when we do this, you won't be able to see for a few seconds." So I was like, "Crap! I'm not going to be able to see? They lowered a suction cup and then they lowered the saw. I felt pressure and heard a buzzing sound. Then I felt the saw cut clear across my eye beneath the cornea. That was a trip. Then my vision came back, but everything was blurry. Then they lifted by cornea and moved it to the side. Then they started the laser. It makes a thumping sound as it works. The cool thing is that the lazer was only on my eye for 27 seconds. Then it stopped, then the doctor moved my cornea back into place. He smoothed it out and then put moisturizer on it. Then the same thing happened with the other eye.

When they finished, my vision was blurry. That kind of disappointed me, but really, I couldn't expect it to be completely clear one minute after they finished. They checked my eyes and said everything went smoothly.

My eyes are really blurry and sticky still. I have to wear some cool, dark sunglasses. But I can already see pretty well. I could never see the computer screen without my glasses, but I can see the screen even at this stage. All I have to do is take eye drops every two hours for the next two days. But I should be good to drive and everything by tomorrow.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

How about you lay off the computer for one day after having SURGERY ON YOUR EYES!

Hope everything ends well.

That scares the crap out of me after hearing the story. What happens if you quit staring even on accident?

No pain really... just pressure. They numb your eyeballs... I didn't know it was possible either.

If you quit staring, the computer tracks it. It's kind of crazy. The doctor said out of thousands of patients, only a handful have gone in for adjustments.

Yeah, I should probably leave the computer alone. HAHA

Exactly my wifes experience. Wore a strong prescription that were like coke bottle bottoms when she was a child. She threw her prescrption glasses away. She uses reading glasses to read and the best sun shades she can buy.

Make sure you find someone ho has done a lot of them and get the first appointment of the day.
