I remember there was a discussion somewhere, where it says China has some laws requiring PC hardwares, including routers, to have some sort of "homing device" built into them. And I remember in the debate, many American posters say things like "this wouldn't fly in America", etc. I told the guys then it's only a matter of time. |

Forget the government. They're basically saying, let's make equuipment insecure by design. We think identity theft and hacking is bad now? This would give any hacker worth his salt an open door. Horrible. |

Here's a question. Let's say they do pass such a law. Then I wonder if we would be be able to import a router from say Singapore or Hong Kong where such backdoor isn't built-in. Or would we be not allowed to import such electronics? hmm |

The first thing that came to my mind after reading this article. All right time to make up a list of candidate countries to migrate to. _________________ Where's Cokie the Clown when you need him? |

I think you'll find a blackmarket for such things emerges relatively quickly. |

^^yep. america would be Identity theft central. but guess what that would cause? americans would almost be forced to stop making online money transactions (paying bills). which means more money for USPS. back to snail mail. which is the government. |
