West Virginia was never gonna beat Kentucky, no matter what defensive schemes they put out there. These guys are too big and strong, and way too much talent to break out of the full court press. I believe the only other team that was as bigger was UCI, but they didn't have a roster full of potential NBA players.
This Kentucky team would beat the Knicks current roster. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
Without the offensive contributions of Towns, WCS and both of the Harrison brothers, Kentucky still would have managed to beat West Virginia by 5.
Let that sink in for a moment ... if you didn't count the scoring from the Top 4 scorers (based on 2014/2015 season PPG) in the starting lineup for the Wildcats, they still managed to beat the Mountaineers by a decent margin. By way of comparison, if you deprived Wisconsin of the scoring from their Top 4 scoring starters (again, based on 2014/2015 season PPG), they would have lost to UNC by a final score of 72 - 16.
What an evisceration at this level, on this stage ...
Notre Dame better buckle the F up because this ish is about to get REAL!

It's going to be interesting to see how well Okafor will stand up to those trees if they meet in the Finals.
And speaking of imagination on offensive sets, the more I watch the great coaches, the more I wonder what makes them great.
1. Ability to recruit
2. Ability to recruit
3. Ability to recruit
4. In some cases, an ability to teach and/or motivate
That's about the right proportion. You won't find many great basketball minds in the college game, no matter what the Vitale's of the world would have you believe. Guys like Calipari and Petino exemplify this. They were just average NBA head coaches -- not bad, not great. In the NBA, they couldn't just go out and recruit players to hide their weaknesses. So they came back to college.
Coach K may be the great exception here. But there are a lot more guys like Valvano and Dale Brown.
Yes, the half court offenses in the college game are painful to watch. So are the defenses. I guess the ineptitude on both ends sort of cancels itself out, in a way.
Cal had the nets turned around but the nets traded in some poor attitude guys in. He's a great coach

That's funny. Career record of 72-112. Made the playoffs once, and got swept (in fairness, by the Bulls). Gets fired after the team starts off 3-17. His replacement coaches the "poor attitude guys" to a record of 13-17. But he's a great coach.
He's not a bad coach, but he's mostly a recruiter. His schtick is playing the Worldwide Wes game with one-and-dones. UK is less of a basketball team and more of modeling runway for NBA wannabes. I love the way that he has exposed the hypocrisy of the NCAA by shamelessly exploiting it for his own ends. He pisses off the establishment by openly running his program like a minor league team.
Just don't try to tell us that he's a great coach. Any competent coach could win with this kind of talent. If anything, the fact that he isn't on a John Wooden multi-year winning streak raises questions about him as a coach.

ND is the first team that UK will play that I think could beat them on a non-fluke basis. By that, I mean that if they played 10 times, ND would beat them once or twice when they got hot on threes. It wouldn't require a scenario where UK was unmotivated or the other team played the game of their lives.
I'm not sure that any of the remaining teams in the tournament have a better shot than the Irish.

I agree, they are a whole team of great shooters and they also have some feisty guys who aren't going to back down. Make a bunch of 3's and get to the line a lot and they could score enough points to win, the question is will they be able to stop Kentucky at all on the other end?
I agree with you though, it is probably either Notre Dame or Wisconsin as the only team left with a shot to beat them. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny
Again? Last I checked, the last and only time they played in the tourney, the Bruins won.....
Another classic know nothing troll post from CC...
I don't think a lot of people expected them to beat Gonzaga this year.
Frankly, they got as far as they could...
Last time, I remember they played Gozaga in the tournament, it was the infamous moment when Adam Morrison was crying.....

Considering many said they didn't even belong in the tournament, the Bruins did pretty well for themselves this year.... _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Looks like UCLA's streak of a made three-pointer in every game since 2000 just came to an end. Ouch. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I really want Jahlil Okafor on the Lakers... Better than anyone currently on the team, even Kobe. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
