Didnt see anything about this guy, Memphis cut him and he spent some time in China, signed with the Defenders in Jan. Has anyone heard more?

Potential to be a mini-Kawhi Leonard, at a bargain price. Lakers should certainly try to acquire toughness, which Franklin has. |

Dump Wes and bring Franklin up.
After the season's over, as Wes helps the tank. |

I've observed Jamaal progress during his Aztec career and through this latest DL burn with the Defenders (he was a DNP the last game I checked, which I thought suggested an imminent call-up) ... I have a lot of thoughts about the +/- of his overall game, but the bottom line is this: where his game is right now, he might look like the best two-way player on the varsity team after just a few games if provided sufficient minutes to get into the flow of the game(s).
He's still too wild at times, but I'd love to see him in P&G ... Memphis (and Chris Wallace + Hollinger?) likely dropped the ball on him, IMO.
I also generally agree with the "Kawhi, Jr." comment, with the qualification that I think Jamaal actually possesses more raw gifts, but is less consistent and poised (often due to his brash confidence that rears its head from time to time) ... I don't think Kawhi is a Top 10 player in the game as the TNT crew repeatedly proposed last night (nor do I anticipate that he'll get to that level), but his brand of two-way play is invaluable and very, very unusual. I think Jamaal shares that unique DNA because of Steve Fisher's evolving system of defensive inculcation over the past decade + ...
I hope we see Jamaal soon ... |

There's no doubt in my mind that he's an NBA player. He's got all the tools. Really hoping the Lakers call him up on a 10-day contract. |

Does anyone have any insight into why Jamaal hasn't played (DNP-CD) in the past two games?
Also for those interested in Malik Pope, it's looking like he's getting some major burn this afternoon in the MWC tourney final. If he can build momentum today and in the next few weeks, he might be primed to declare this year (though I doubt he will leave until next year) ... |

Once Franklin really develops a quick release, he should be ready next level.
He really struggled with his shot pocket/form/release point against NBA defenders. Still does a bit of a set shot. Can't do it against NBA wings. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I think you're right ... in the games I've seen since he landed with the Defenders, his shot seems much improved to me. But that really is the missing link for him, as the shot he left SDSU with cannot cut it in the association. He might have to continue the overhaul ...
But I'm hopeful ... |

Isn't he an athletic wing/swing player? If so, then we should definitely call him up. Call up anyone that lets us sit scrub Johnson. |

F ... MF ... the decision to bring Brown and Buycks into the varsity fold instead of Franklin is going to look really foolish within the year. I anticipate a good run with the Nuggets for Jamaal, who plays like the high-energy offspring of Kawhi and MWP. Lock that ish in ...
Good luck, Grindson ... |
