I would rather have Towns since it has been proven that teams with multiple elite defenders win championships. Once we get Towns, we would have to get more defenders though. Danny Green is a free agent.

Check like the last 5 pages or so of the FA thread.

No time to keep up with a 476 page thread.

Depends what else we're giving up with the pick, but I'd strongly consider it.

It would speed up the rebuild drastically, and he's not even in his prime yet. I'm a big fan of Cousins. I assume Randle would be shipped with the pick.

For some reason, I just feel like a Clarkson-Cousins core is a more balanced duo. I love Randle but he's going to be more a face-up, ball handling 4.

I'm not sure how much cap space we'd have left. Maybe we can still throw $7M at Danny Green? Next season we'd be looking at:

PG: Clarkson/Brown
SG: Kobe/Green
SF: Green/Wes
PF: Davis/Black
C: Cousins

Make the postseason next season as an 8th seed, and then make a run at Durant next summer. Roster:

PG: Clarkson
SG: Green
SF: Durant
PF: Davis/Black
C: Cousins

That's a young core to build around for the next 6 years. The Lakers have never been the type of franchise to just "let the kids grow". If they can get a young core of proven all-stars in their primes I think they'll do it. No question.

Next year team will have similar talent to what Sacramento had this year. It will not make the playoffs, not even close (at least in the west)

No worries, I'm not a mod

My opinion on the question is no. For reasons state by other posters. Rather bet on Towns/Russell + the cap space

Lottery player + MAX Franchise player > Cousins

If you traded Cousins for the pick(s) and cap room, it would be Cousins + $10-$12 million in cap room vs. Lotto player + $22 million in cap room. If you added Swaggy to the deal, it even opens up to Cousins + near max $.

I would do Pick #2 for Cousins personally. He and Randle would be a great compliment and if you add Clarkson, that's an excellent base to build a contender on for several years (obviously still needing additional pieces).

Lottery player + MAX franchise player = potentially 2 franchise player + caproom for a 3rd max franchise player while lottery player is under rookie scale contract.

I wouldn't trade a top 5 pick for him let alone top 2.
