I doubt we see them make the playoffs either. We would have to be a 45-48 winning team in order to just make the 8th seed. No way we see them pull that off no matter what moves we make.
That's why IMO it's worth more to just acquire best young talent we can get and just have a fun year next season and see how far they progress while keeping expectations low. |
Clarkson/Lin
Kobe/Brown
Middleton/Young
Randle/Kelly
Gasol/Towns(Okafor)(WCS)
That team could make the playoffs. |
we can't sign both Middleton and Gasol. |
I rather have Middleton cheaper younger option that still has potential to get better it would be key piece moving forward. |

As would I.
Man I want the Lakers to get Towns or Okafor or Russell in this draft so bad. Especially Towns or Okafor mostly because it addresses this team's biggest need. |

can we have enough money to sign danny green + middleton + davis?
PG.clarkson 36 / jabari 12
SG.kobe 18 / green 32
SF.middleton 32 / kobe 10 / young 6
PF.randle 36 / kelly 12
C.davis 22 / towns 26
There us not a single guy that doean't know how to score the basketball. Within the right system they would kill teams. |

Good to see. Looking forward to watching Randle's progression. |

Can't wait to see this guy in action again. Which rookie from the top 4 would match best with him on the court though? |

Rim protector (Towns or WCS), perimeter defender (Winslow) or perimeter creator (Russell, Hezonja). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The nice thing about that list is it contains five guys, meaning if LA keeps the pick, one of them is there. |

Exactamundo!!!
Which is why Winslow's great play was heartening and I do think Hezonja has the potential to be a stud (if he can get out of his contract by next season). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

WCS actually struggles with interior d and is not a particularly good post defender so I wouldn't call him a rim protector. His strength is as a pick and roll defender because he can stay with guards on switches and/or can hedge and recover quickly.
It's nitpicky but just thought I'd throw that out there. |

Yeah, very few teams run the late 1990s offense where you dump it into the big, let them pound the ball for 4 seconds, kick out, re-post, pound more for 4 seconds and do a drop step. In that sense WCS may not be the best.
But in today's P&R heavy offenses, as well as all the switches that need to be made he excels in that. He may be in the top 10% of big men in that respect on day 1 of his NBA career. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I can't wait to see how WCS' quickness will help him cover the wide NBA lane. It may be something special imo. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c2nfgwivI3c# Look at the play at 4:15+ and the replays. that's special |

That's what I meant. Interior D as in - primary defender against the post. I guess his strengths as a help defender at the rim still make him a rim protector though. Fair enough. |

Julius working out with some potential future Lakers |
Would not be upset at all with a Towns/D. Johnson draft. Been saying that for a month. Now the lottery Gods need to let it happen.
Keep the Kentucky pipeline going. |

Yeah, not impressed with him at all. Rather gamble a 2nd round pick on Upshaw or keep Sacre. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

very excited for Julius. To find some sort of silver lining in this, I think his time off actually might have given him time to get stronger and work on his conditioning. I have hopes that he'll be able to start at about 25 mpg and work his way from there. |

Agreed. Him dropping weight was probably a huge step in that direction |

Because he is a legitimate center with skills that can be drafted in the 2nd round to upgrade a pathetic Laker roster at the center position. He is a role player with potential. That is why he rated in the top 35 in the draft despite his weaknesses.
Johnson is not going to wow anyone with his athleticism. But he is a solid post defender, works hard on rebounding, setting screens and defensive rotations. Not a big scorer but can hit a shot. Decent passer. High character. Probably too similar to Sacre for many. I see him as a role player.
I would prefer Upshaw from a talent standpoint. But there are some major issues with him. Seems too big a risk IMO. Also much depends on who they draft in the first or possible free agents.
As I stated. Towns is my wish for the top 5 pick. My ideal draft would have SF Anderson at #27. Several potential role players will be available at #34. Maybe Rozier , Lucas or Lawawu if the go perimeter. But any way you look at it there is room for a prospect like Johnson if they decide to add a big.
IMO I would keep Sacre too. A rotation of mystery starter center/Sacre and Johnson would be a major upgrade.
Davis and Black are PFs and get overwhelmed by legitimate centers on a nightly basis. Would be thrilled to see either or both of them in a rotation with Randle and Kelly. Just not as Centers. |
