Sign :
- Brook Lopez - he fits the pick n pop/roll that Scott admires. He has a good mid range and post game.
- Demare Carroll - he brings that 3D wing we've been missing.
- Sergio Rodriguez - bring him over from Spain. He's much improved as a true point guard. He'd be cheap

I like this idea but I don't think Sergio is available. Real Madrid pays him almost 2 million euros a year which is comparable to 5 million in the NBA. |
Not even 2.3MM USD, in fact I'm sure it's even after you account for European taxes....but I'm glad you think you know what you're talking anout. |

The list is of all the players in Europe that earned at least a $3 million NBA salary equivalent during the 2012-13 season."
13. Sergio Rodriguez - €1.7 million euros net ($4.4 million NBA salary)

Clarkson/Russell
Kobe/Young/Brown
Harris/RHJ/Wes
Randle/Kelly/Mickey
Koufas/Black
I really like this team going into the future. Lots of assets and flexibility. Better offensive team then defensive, but have some talented defensive studs in RHJ and Mickey. RHJ does not have a shot, but on a team with Young,Kobe, Russell, Harris, and Randle you just need him to D up two through 4's. I think Mickey can play 3's and 4's, maybe even two's, but we probably wouldn't see a player like him until the middle of the season?
I still believe they have the MLE still left to spend with this squad?
Sign Joseph with the MLE and look to package Young and Mickey for something at the deadline, or maybe even Kelly?
Russell can backup Kobe, and be the point 2 guard with Joseph spotting up and playing off the ball? |

How old is that list? The Euro is barely worth more than the dollar right now. About 1.15 dollars per Euro, iirc. |

Resign Price for PG insurance
Resign Johnson
PG: Rondo, Clarkson, Price
SG: Kobe, Young, Brown
SF: Stephenson, Johnson
PF: Randle, Black, Kelly
C: Towns, Upshaw, Sacre
If all goes well:
Our 2 rookie centers learn on the fly and focus on protecting the rim.
This allows Randle to focus on offense and compete for rookie of the year.
Rondo and Stephenson return to their triple double form and good perimeter defense which allows Kobe to rest on defense and focus on offense.
Swaggy P returns to 6th man of the year potential.
Clarkson continues to develop.
With good health and Coach Scott giving more of the play calls to Rondo, and we surprise and make noise in the playoffs.
If all goes wrong:
Rondo and Stephenson kill each other. Kobe kills Scott and injures a leg. Towns and Upshaw have off the court issues. Swaggy stays frdged on the court. Sacre, Kelly, Johnson and Price play heavy minutes. We get too 5 pick again that goes to Phoenix. |
A better chance that things goes wrong than right, but I like your effort. Do you think a Stephenson, Russell backcourt could work? |
Stephenson/Upshaw/ and Rondo out for a night on the town......Wonder what happens? |

Rajon Rondo. PG
Kobe Bryant SG
Danny Green. SF
Julius Randle. PF
Karl- Anthony Towns. C
Reserves:
Jordan Clarkson. PG
Wayne Ellington. SG
Ryan Kelly. SF/PF
Ed Davis. PF
Tarik Black. PF/ C
Robert Sacre. C
Byron Scott adds a piece in the draft in Towns to develop interior defense and a young bigman tandem for the future.
The Lakers sign Danny Green to add defense and a three point shooting threat. A Popovich developed player to give the team depth and character.
Rondo is added as a make good contract gamble. He has the potential to defend and distribute in a perfect Byron Scott planned attack. If he turns cancerous "many feel this is likely", he gets cut and Clarkson is promoted for good. A veteran backup would be helpful.
The Lakers play better and keep cap space ready for future free agents to join a developing core. |

I think we are going to off Randle and change for Love. I think we can get it done and have room for Jordan (Mitch is creative).

Just adding up the #'s and I do not think its possible (assuming a cap of 67). Can any cap experts figure out if this could be done (assuming Love opts in at 17 per). |

And have the number two pick a realistic guess. Have to realize that starting Towns/Okafor and Randle two rookies might not be a good idea. Although eventually it will be.
The big holes are C and SF. One hole will be filled although may take time for rookie to grow into role.
C Towns/Okafor, Hill, Davis ( start veteran for awhile)
PF Randle/Black/Kelley ( keep Boozer to mentor?)
SF Big Hole, Johnson/ 27th pick?
SG Kobe, Young, Brown, VanderBlue
PG Clarkson/Lin/Price
Except for Kobe it is financially a good team. Realistic and possible.
How will the hole at SF be filled? Johnson is a good backup.
When Kobe retires who will take his place? But for next season he is there. |

The hole can be filled by not picking up Hill's option. That gives us a lot of spending money _________________ Kobe |

If I remember correctly Hill was the only player that other
teams were willing to trade for.
Sign him and keep him as trade bait or starting center until Towns/Okafor
learn the ropes.
But what are some realistic SF prospects? |

Bass

Why Bass over Randle? Bass has that consistent midrange game to space the offense. And seeing Randle push it off the bench is intriguing.

People are looking into one game too much. In order for Randle to develop you're gonna need to have him start. Benching him won't help get his rhythm back. |
