So do we exercise Jordan Hill's 10m Team Option since we are guaranteed Okafor/Towns?

Towns/Okafor and Randle front court
Sacre and Tariq black back up... Ed Davis at right price (he'll get paid by someone)
Package the 27th pick with Hill (throw in R.Kelly if the other team want a prospect) for a $12-14 mil dollar player, Marcin Gortat? Pekovich? Gobert? Or a guard like Tyreke Evans or maybe gamble on Wes Matthews?
Sign a stud wing... max offer to Jimmy Butler?

Kobe/SwaggyP SG
Clarkson/Jabari PG

bring back Ellington for cheap and draft another back up PG in 2nd Rd

Man, I am excited for next season... Kobe#6!

Hill is done with us and we need to find a way to dump Nick Young, too. Tanking time is over.

I understand the concept of lowball offers with hopes of catching another team's FO in a weak moment, but Mitch would be insulting Lindsey (Utah GM) with an offer of Hill + #27 for Gobert.

Even if we didn't get the pick we wouldn't keep Hill. Not on this contract.

I do like Gobert upside and if I was Utah, I won't do that deal either. I'm just looking at it from a Lakers fan perspective.
how much do u think Gobert's market value?

I don't see the Lakers as a good trade partner with the Jazz. Gobert is worth more than Clarkson and the Jazz don't have a strong need for Randle since they already have Favors.

If they trade Gobert, they would be in need of a Center with a defensive presence and WCS could be risky since Salt Lake City is at +4,000 ft. above sea level.

Since Gobert wasn't raised in the U.S., he might not have the urge to move to major markets (NY, LA etc) that some players born & raised in the U.S. have.

No idea if it was a conscious effort by their FO, but the Spurs have multiple international players and not that many wanting to sign or get traded to major U.S. markets.

Getting back to your query...

#2 for Gobert + #12 is the only trade that I can think of that at least makes some sense for Utah. Since they had a negative experience with Kanter (strong offense and minimal defense), Okafor would likely have little appeal to the Jazz.

Ed Davis is the key guy to have come back. Jah/Randle/Davis/Black is all we need for our front court. Sacre is whatever.

I agree. Ed Davis is like, the perfect combo PF / C to have back-up Julius Randle and Karl Anthony-Towns / Jahlil Okafor.

He won't embarass you out on the court so it's easier to bring the two rookies along.

Hill had diminishing returns in his quest to expand his game to the mid-range--he took it way too far, without accountability, and lost what made him interesting in the first game (ability to accrue garbage points at high efficiency). He's definitely expendable, since he's also never played league average defense since he entered the league, which is damning because he's certainly athletic, mobile and has enough shotblocking ability to make some impact here.

Under no circumstances do you pick it up. Cap flexibility > Trade bait... and J Hill isn't even trade bait. We already tried moving him with that contract with no luck.

People who think we can get a first rounder for JHill need to fall back down to earth. We couldn't even get a 2nd for him last year. No one's going to want to pay him $9 million.

Just opt out and use some of that money to re-sign Ed Davis. If we land a max FA, we still have enough to pay Ed something like 2 years $14 million, with a team option the following year.

Ed Davis on an expiring at $7 million is a lot more valuable than Jordan Hill. He's a better player for the team and has more trade value.

i agree.

they should just give him his pay. Honestly, the kid has earned it..

I'd easily give em $12-$15M/3-4 years... we've given out crappier contracts.

Kelly will work well with Okafor as well.

If Kelly doesn't work well with Okafor he should really consider the fact he's not an NBA player
