in recent memory, i can think of

shaq->to la
howard->to hou
pau->to chicago
lbj->to miami, to cleveland
bosh->to miami

other than that... seems that most all-nba players have been traded.

can anyone think of anyone else?

i only ask because all of those outside of lbj are bigs. seems that elite guards dont really leave their home team.

James Harden was traded. I don't believe he forced it either. He would have played out the year.

Wilt forced trades to return Philly, then subsequently to LA.

Jamaal Wilkes ? To the Clips ?

To the Lakers. He started his NBA career with the Warriors.

Melo pretty much forced the trade to New York.

I think a lot of Rockets fans would disagree they got a "prime" Howard.

Antonio McDyess (Denver)
Danny Manning (Phoenix)
Horace Grant (Orlando)

Amare was second-team all NBA the year before he joined the Knicks, and the first year he played for the Knicks.

Harden was 6th man of the year before he joined Houston, and became all-NBA his first year with them, so I could include him myself. But I am fine if you want to remove him.

UFA isn't that new, short of that weird cba year that let Shaq do it, the push for the forced trade or free agency has really come with the 2003 class beyond.

Dwyane Wade is really the only all nba player from that 2003-2005 group that hasn't forced himself elsewhere, now we're entering the point where the 2006-08 classes get their shot.

Sure, but he was traded because he turned down OKC's offer and made it clear he was leaving as a free agent. Consequently, OKC traded him to a team of his choosing.

In my book, if a player is traded to a team he wants to go to under the threat of leaving as a free agent, that is closer to a free agent move than a trade move.
