I'll wager that he goes to New York.

I'd be ecstatic with either one

He'll stay in Cleveland. The media would tear him a new one if he leaves Lebron and essentially makes them look like the biggest fools ever for trading Wiggins.

Yesterday when I was watching his show, he said that he was gonna be in LA. I think he just says different teams so he can eventually pull the tape or tweets and say he was right.

I do think being in the east helps them, just like it helps every team. You are one truly significant player away from contending for the east crown.

I agree.

Good coach without good players is a mediocre team at best

good coach is where it all starts. much easier to get good players than great players realistically and a good coach can make the good/ above average players give results better than the sum of their parts.

a bad coach can make promising players stagnate and keep the team from winning.

Exactly and great players will want to go to the best coached team in free agency

Except you only need to obtain 1 person to get a good coach. You need several people to obtain good players.

Is Erik Spoelstra a good coach or a product of good players?

This thread deserves a bump. What is everyone's opinion now that we seem to have some nice pieces coming through the draft & maybe free agency?

I feel a lot better now that we got the #2 pick. It will be interesting to see what both franchises do this summer via free agency and trades.

I thought we had the better future before getting the second pick. Now it's without question.

You can stick your six or more late round picks..

The #2 pick and the return of Randle gives us a boost but until they show me something on the court and we pull ahead of the Celtics, they're still winning the race in my eyes.

I know I was laughing and saying "Who?" when the Celtics hired Brad Stevens but he managed to take a team with very little talent into the playoffs. Maybe that was just luck and playoff regulars dropping down but 15 additional wins is a big leap.

Looking forward to revisiting this thread in a year after we see all our new improvements, we're facing Year 1 of the Post-Kobe era.

The Lakers titles are more legit anyways. Success in more eras, and actually have more titles that are attached to back2back wins.

Look at it this way, is there a Celtics player you would rather have than Clarkson? No. Randle? Heck no. Okafor/Towns? Hell no.

Not that I'd choose him over Jordan Clarkson.. but Avery Bradley is a nice player.

I think the big difference between the Celtics and the Lakers is this:

Celtics have a LOT of assets, but they are all pretty lousy

Lakers have only three assets, but all three of them are high quality

So it's your classic case of Quantity vs Quality

Go Lakers!

Go Lakers!

In the NBA quality is usually much, much better than quantity.

The best reason to acquire quantity is to turn it into quality-- e.g. the Harden trade.

So I think we're in a better spot.

I don't see the celtics ahead of us...we have randle, clarskon and this years picks, then you throw in the fact the lakers will have cap space this year and next with the draw of LA...I see celtics being stuck as a low seed eastern conference team

We are not even in the playoffs. They are ahead because they have more talent on their team.

There is nothing concrete about our team yet.

They are ahead of us. They started the rebuild before us. They have a good young coach and they got playoff experience this year. Anybody know how much cap room they have this summer?

The Lakers and the Celtics are directly competing to trade picks to move up in the draft. The Lakers have #27 and #34. The Celtics have #28 and #33 (in addition to #16 and #45). I wouldn't be surprised if its the Celtics who move up and the Lakers take a foreign player instead.

The most coveted asset we have is a #2 pick, presumably for Okafor. Not sure he's a game changer short-term or long-term, but I am sure he's a good bet to help this club a lot.

The most coveted asset of Boston's club is their coach. He is a game changer.

If I could pick between having their coach and our #2 pick, I like Boston's position more. They have a rarer asset. They're still ahead of us, but hell, almost every club still is right now. The gap is closing.

Danny Ainge.

League executives also said the Celtics were trying to move up in the draft, using their two first-round picks and two second-round picks as bait.

The executives said the Celtics were looking to trade point guard Marcus Smart and the Nos. 16 and 28 picks in the first round to Philadelphia for center/forward Nerlens Noel and the No. 3 pick. But the 76ers, the executives said, weren't interested.
