I'm still shocked this thread is on going until now... There has been no word on Lin and the lakers since the end of the season and unlike others like Davis there is no signs that point to Lin returning I think both parties are prepared to go to a different direction the lakers will likely use the room exception to bring in a pg to replace Lin.
Oh, this thread is rolling...until Lin signs with another team. Than when the next season starts and Lin plays fairly decently, watch this thread get restarted again!

If Lin's Laker days are over, and IMO, they are, it was a decent run. We got him as a 1 year rental and Houston's first round pick too. That may give way to another player down the road, or get used to help us trade up, so we will likely be seeing the fruits of the Lin deal (like the Aaron McKie deal) for some years to come.
While Lin was here he played okay in a tough year with no Kobe, no Nick Young, an 85 year old Carlos Boozer, and a bunch of guys that should have been starting for the Defenders. Through it all, Lin had a good attitude, accepted the rebuild, and played through the losing.
If he wants back here as a backup to Jordan Clarkson, and is willing to play here for $3 million, I can live with that. If he doesn't either because of role, playing time, playing for a title contender, or just more $$$, more power to him. No regrets, thanks for playing through the misery of last season, no hard feelings.

Not sure why you are expecting there to be news....teams aren't suppose to talk to their agents until the first day of free agency....so any reports now is just pure speculation. Nobody wants to be busted for tampering by the NBA.

Lins market value this summer is gonna be REALLY high cause of the cap increase next summer the problem is that he probably wants another suitable role which the lakers most likely can't provide.

Good for Lin - I don't think the Lakers are going to spend big money on a PG, we are likely going to go with Clarkson and Jabari Brown and another vet. PG
Hopefully we say no to Rondo - I'm okay with Lin at a low figure, but if his market is good another place, I hope he gets the best deal out there.
Also, I don't think is a big fan of Coach Scott; I think if the Lakers offered him 2 years at $4 million and team x offered him 2 years at 3 or 3.5 million, he will take team x. (fill in Denver, Dallas, Sacramento, Utah,....)
(Lin being allowed to look for his own offense early collapsed the Hawks defense on him and opened up the court for easy looks by his teammates (Lin with 5 assists in second quarter and 4 in third quarter after scoring 8 points in first quarter; 5 Lakers scored in double digits that game, all on high efficiency)

(after the Sixers game, Brett Baier said he tried speed, quickness, and length on Lin, but still couldn't stop him. Can see how dangerous Lin can be when he has space and options, and his own jump shot is on, and his coach actually gives him the freedom to look for his own shot that aggressively)

Rockets @ Grizzlies 12/26/2013 (game day after Lin contained Tony Parker so well in Christmas Day game immediately below)
(Patrick Beverley had just fractured his hand a few days ago and wouldn't be available for about a month, so Lin got to run with Harden, Chandler Parsons, Terrence Jones, and Dwight for about a month; backup point guard Aaron Brooks suffered an ankle injury right at end of third quarter, so Lin was only point guard on roster available to McHale for entire fourth quarter)

Rockets @ Spurs 12/25/2013 (McHale challenged Lin to step up his defense on Tony Parker)
(Kobe led a one man comeback in third quarter, and Lin rose to his challenge. The dagger three from corner a few plays after video is cued up was the shot that gave Knicks enough breathing room to ultimately hold off Kobe; IIRC, Knicks had missed several shots in a row right before that, and Kobe was getting hot, so that was a big crunch time shot to make under the intense pressure Kobe was applying)

Mavericks @ Knicks 2/19/2012 (weekend after Knicks Lakers game above)
(this has always been Lin's best game during the peak of Linsanity for several reasons. Lakers seemed like they thought Lin was a fluke and all they had to do was show up at MSG (Lakers hadn't lost at MSG for many games prior to that) and turn Lin into a jumper shooter and coast to an easy victory. Mavericks saw what happened to Lakers and were ready for Lin, even entering the game on a 6 game winning streak. Mavericks defense just started to keep squeezing and squeezing Knicks in second half of game, but Lin and Steve Novak were somehow able to break the stranglehold late in third quarter and lead Knicks to an incredibly impressive victory)

Thunder @ Houston 2/20/2013 (Harden and Lin's signature win year 1 in Houston)

Rockets @ Raptors 11/11/2013 (Kyle Lowry called Lin an "alpha scorer" after this game)
(Raptors had a really stout defense then, and after game Dwayne Casey said he deliberately took Harden and Dwight completely out of the game then dared someone else to beat then. Lin did (incremental difference maker when Raptors defense expended so much effort to neutralize Dwight and Harden)
(the last three minutes of the third quarter is what Lin is all about. Rockets facing an unexpected elimination game, Trailblazers were quickly erasing a comfortable lead Rockets had opened up in first half, and Trailblazers were trying to deliver a haymaker knockout punch when they felt they had nothing to lose (two more chances to eliminate Rockets after that game). Lin stepped up and led the team, being willing to take and make some pressure packed shots till rest of Rockets could find their own courage in fourth quarter and then collectively hold off Portland to play another game. Given the pressure of the moment, by far the best game of Lin's young career, so far...)
Really weird picks. The Linsanity game against Kobe ranked only #5. That one could easily ranked #1. Not sure how a toe to toe win against Kobe not list as #1. After all, it was against Kobe.
The valentine game is not there, the triple double game is not there, the 9 3s game is not there, 38 point against Spurs not there.
I thought this was a rank for the best game for Lin, and yet you listed the #1 game for Lin when he was not even a starter.

I agree that he's had many phenomenal games, so it's hard to put all of them on a top ten list. However, I would agree that game 5 against Portland was one of the most (if not the most) spectacular games he's ever had, especially given the playoff intensity and series situation. We can all agree McHale is an awful coach and pulled Lin early in the fourth but there is no question Lin carried that game
Clipper already has CP3, JJ Reddick, Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford... prob don't need an MLE to be their 3rd string (I'm assuming Lakers not keeping Lin)
I can see Lin going to San Antonio for Patty Mills insurance policy

How is it an insurance policy if his contract demands are likely more than what patty makes now and is more than their current third option Corey Joseph? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

forgot about cory joseph. You're right, SA is set at PG
Lin gonna have to look elsewhere, highly doubt about him having a spot at either LA team
