I agree those numbers must be a mistake. Looking through the actual box scores they have Pinnock down for 2 steals in the first 4 games, Douthit down for 3 blocks and Green with 0. I disagree with every one of those numbers. Especially Pinnock with only 2 steals which seems improbable at best as I can clearly think of at least 2 steals just in the first quarter in their last game.

Farmar looks like he might see some minutes. But what's the deal with Bynum so far? Is there any significant development since last year?

Check out the reports from all 5 SPL games. He's really only had 1 bad game (his 4th game in 5 nights). However, he's put up 14/15/5, 24/7/1, and 19/8/2 in 3 of the 4 other games. He never put up those kind of numbers in last year's SPL in which he averaged 10 and 7. Right now, he's averaging 14.2/8/2.5. If you take away his one bad game, then he's averaging 17.2/8.5/2.5. I think the numbers speak for themselves.

Bynum has taken the first step in what will be many on his way to being a productive player for the Lakers. Pretty much all I expected from him, and he still has the whole summer! Probably be year 4 or 5 before he starts showing who he really is though.

I can see Bynum average 7 points, 5 rebounds and a block this season as a backup C (assuming he gets 15-20 minutes per)

Well, he did acknowledge that he needed to work on that part of his game. That's good to hear.

It's still decent numbers at 29 minutes per game. One of the things a lot of people forget is how hard it is to be a dominant rebounder and shotblocker. Many times, positioning for one degrades position for the other. It gives you a lot more respect for guys who do both, although most (Garnett, big Ben, do it on great athletecism, length, and quickness)

Thanks again MIke.....

Looks like Bynum has taken the next step forward going by numbers and the discription from Mike....More work for sure, but thats certanly OK,he is still 18....

Pinnock and Perkins look like guys to watch from the first 5 games.I think Pinnock has past both Green and Wafer in the guys to keep category.....

Perkins,is he yet another point in the battle with farmar,Shammond Williams,Sasha,Smush? Its getting crowded.I wonder if Perkins gets an invite to the fall camp?

Farmar is holding up well,I hope to see him elevate one more step in these final 3 SPL games.....

Thanks again Mike, your info is real helpful and appreaciated...

Do you have any numbers of the Laker team from the last SPL compared to how they did in the regular season?

It gives you a lot more respect for guys who do both, although most (Garnett, big Ben, do it on great athletecism, length, and quickness)

Especially in summer league - which is really mostly about guards. No one knows the offense, and they haven't worked with each other that much, so getting a big guy the ball in good position rather than running and gunning like they're on a playground is harder to do.

Bynum hasn't surprised us that much. He's really erratic, which is to be expected, but he's done pretty well. I'm excited to see him and what he can do in 10 - 15 MPG this year.

Wow....Douthit only averaging 1.5 assist? That is an error.

I have seen only two games and knows for a fact that he dished out at least 6 in those two games.

Farmar has left a real impression on the coaches that go beyond the numbers.

NBA.com was a little generous with Pinnock, but there is no doubt he was productive in the minutes he played.
