Looks like Rick was smuggling over some Oxycodone on the 17th, nearly two weeks ago. Didn't tell Dean until this last Friday. Other word coming out that he wasn't just detained and Q'd, but formally arrested.

TMZ says he hasn't been charged with a crime. May, be a formality at the moment.
Weird that Stohl had cocaine and X and it seems like a lesser deal to the Kings than prescription drugs. |
Stoll's an impending FA so Kings didn't really need to do anything. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Hate to think this, but we really lucked out here. Though it makes me wonder what the Oilers/Flames deals were (McDavid for Richards and Slava ). |
Oh man, if that highway robbery was going down then Dean would have developed selective amnesia right after that phone call about Richards' incident.
Ridiculous how much the Kings do luck out. We're talking about a negligible cap hit of $1.32 for only the next four years. That opens the door to going after Sekera as we speak. Mind boggling timing. Richards was literally in the waiver process when the Kings got the call about his (bleep) up. |
NHLPA is investigating but it'll likely stand. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

I also feel more is going to come out soon. There's no way DL is going to try an terminate his contract for just detain and question. That alone would be far too easy for the NHLPA to strike down. I also don't see how a detain and question alone could qualify as a material breach of contract, which is why I believe that this was a situation where Richards was actually arrested and decided to hide it from the Kings. |

It's possible that the Kings may not even have to pay any cap recapture penalty. |

Poor asset management by Dean but he was hamstrung with that kind of offer. Insane length and AAV and it has a NMC. Kings still need a second pairing defenseman unless they feel Voynov is coming back. And even if he is, do they even keep him? |

But hey, at least we signed a backup G in Enroth.
Though kidding aside, at least it's a fair deal for a veteran who may be better if we can just upgrade that D. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Enroth is a good deal. Only one season as the backup. Much better than Jones' contract since he ended up getting way too much from the Sharks. Let's see what other moves DL makes, but he's pretty much all in for this upcoming season with the trades he's already made at this point. Looking back, it would have been really nice to have gotten that first rounder from the Sharks for Jones. |

Williams signs with Washington.
But it's only a 2 year deal for $3.25 mill AAV?! Why couldn't the Kings have kept him?
I don't even know whose offseason is worse so far between the Lakers and the Kings. |

Perplexing to me as well at that price. I'm guessing DL's just playing the waiting game with so many Dmen getting inflated contracts. Though there's not many left (Oduya, Visnovsky, Franson, Ehrhoff). _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Erhoff would be a decent pickup at the right price and term. I wouldn't mind Franson but I doubt he'll be interested as he's looking for a long term big money deal. If Erhoff is still around late in the summer on the cheap the Kings will pick him up I bet. Visnovsky is doubtful after DL dumped him to Edmonton before his NMC was in effect last time. |

Ehrhoff may be affordable though oft injured of late. If we do sign him, I'd hope it'd be sooner than later because he's got a lot of catching up to do and doesn't quite have the postseason resume that say Oduya has. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

That is disappointing that the Kings couldn't retain him at that contract figure. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Breaking: Voynov accepts a plea deal. 90 days jail, 3 years probation. Now it comes down to whether he gets deported, then the NHL deciding any additional penalties, and whether the Kings will terminate his contract as well. Not a very fun time for LA teams.
Then there's the Mike Richards stuff. Who knows what the Kings' salary cap situation is right now? |

He gets deported, the latter two are moot. I doubt he'd be deported though and I hope we get to jettison him to free up some cap. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Good signing, he will fit in well with the Rangers. That said, I am fine with the Kings moving on, Stolly messed up big in Vegas...you can't do that. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

There must be a cup curse going on right now. LA wins it and has had to deal with legal issues. Chicago just won it and Kane is facing rape charges. Just awful situations that the teams are facing. |

I love this move. Very affordable price for a veteran who still has significant upside. If he can return to his Vancouver level (recovering from bad concussions and bad teams), we got us a stud. If we get resolution on the Richards/Voynov situations, could possibly even get Franson with room for a deadline trade next season.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/la-kings-sign-christian-ehrhoff-for-one-year---1-5m-182640761.html
Quote: | The Los Angeles Kings brought in some offense for their blueline at a bargain basement price.
On Sunday, the Kings agreed to terms with unrestricted defenseman Christian Ehrhoff for a one-year, $1.5 million contract. For most of the offseason the 33-year-old Ehrhoff had done a slow dance with the Columbus Blue Jackets as the two seemed destined to unite. Clearly this did not happen.
Ehrhoff was limited to 49 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season and notched 14 points. His 0.29 points per-game was his lowest since his first NHL season. With the Kings’ puck possession system, could he at least get back up to the 30-plus point mark? If so, it would be a win for Los Angeles and Ehrhoff, who is on a ‘show me’ contract. Ehrhoff's prior deal with Pittsburgh was for one year at $4 million. |

The Erhoff signing is clearly the best offseason acquisition by the Kings. Low risk high reward. He'll probably be the second pairing defenseman until the Voynov situation is resolved and then be moved to the bottom pairing. Hopefully that should help out his minutes and reduce his injury risk. Curious to see how the roster will shape up heading into the season for the defense.
Doughty-Muzzin
Erhoff-McNabb
Martinez-Greene
McBain/Forbort
If Voynov is healthy and still on the roster, that's an additional D-man on the team. Probably at the trading deadline the Kings will move someone.
Can Forbort be sent down without waivers? |
