Street Scene is good. Staying in Mission Valley is not a bad idea as the trolley goes right from there to Downtown where it takes place.
MV has tons of hotels, it just depends on your budget.
I would recommend the Marriott (I think it is on Rio San Diego Drive if I recall right) if it isn't sold out. The Hilton on Camino Del Rio North is also a good hotel with a nice pool and some hotties in the bar once in a while. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Oh yeah, they moved it last year I think!
Then MV is a really good idea, you are right there. The hotels down in the gaslamp or downtown are fun for the nightlife, but get very pricey. I would recommend the Hyatt downtown if price is no object. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

yeah...hopefully we won't need to go to the gaslamp and find some girls at street scene that would want to drink/party with us in our room after the concert..... 8)
What about Old Town?
Fashion Valley?
Rates are around 170-200 a night.... |

I've been staying at "Tower 23" hotel in PB. Definitly a bit more expensive...but great scene. Very good boutique hotel right on the beach. _________________ I'm really big in Europe. |

probably not close to a trolly? The purpose of the hotel is so no one has to be designated driver. |

I say bust gas lamp anyways. Really Gas lamp is the only scene in Daygo which I really knows is a super party scene all day. |

^much of the Gaslamp District will be busy till 2am as half the places there serve alcohol. The place will get less crowded around midnight, though.
This is the first Street Scene I'll be missing in over 8 years. I'm gonna be driving up to NorCal for enduro trail-riding that week.
I was upset about the move to Qualcomm stadium - kinda defeated the whole "Street" part of the Scene. In any case...at the Q, there is little to no shade (outside the beer tents) and no place to sit down (except for friggin 100* asphalt). When it was downtown, we had the refuge of 5-story buildings and curbs to make nice seats. So, it's a different scene all together, but still a great time. The biggest plus having it at the Stadium parking lot (yup, not IN the Q) was being able to escape crowds when needed. In the gaslamp, it was PACKED with NOWHERE to go.
If you've been prior years, one thing you'll notice will be the over-abundance of SDPD (a quarter of which are gonna be on horseback). There is a patdown accompanied by metal detectors upon entrance...for those who need to worry about such things.
Have fun...give us an update how it's gonna be. _________________ Free advertising in Jefe's signature. Inquire within. |

I have a friend who lives at 9th & A, so it was great when it was downtown (same when the Super Bowl was down there - just walk down and back and no worries about hotels or parking). Anyway, now that it's at the Murph, we'll have to drive I suppose, but a decent lineup this year.
Kanye - AFI - Social D - Snoop - Tool - My Chemical Romance - Wu Tang - Bad Religion - She Wants Revenge - Slightly Stoopid, among others.
Nothing better when it was downtown though, so you could just wander around from block to block, and if you got tired of standing out in the sun, you could duck in to Dick's or the Star Bar (my personal favorite) and escape the heat and escape the drunken Marines/Navy kids on the weekend pass. |

I saw Social D at the Street Scene a couple of years back, what a show that was! Mike Ness rules. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Social D has always been fantastic. My favorite show was seeing Ray Charles in 1999. I left Steel Pulse to see him...everyone thought I was nut and I went alone. I stood next to a 35 year old blind black man called Charles, appropriately named after Brother Ray himself. What an experience. I believe that was the best concert Charles has ever witnessed. The atmosphere has forever changed with the venue move...I mean, I can't imagine another Ray Charles-caliber musician ever plaing at "Street Scene" again. Much more rowdy and younger crowd at the Murph than was in the Gaslamp Quarters. _________________ Free advertising in Jefe's signature. Inquire within. |

I'm still sad I don't get to see Bad Religion. Greg Graffin came out with a old-timin-folk cd recently...different than punk, but still amazing. _________________ Free advertising in Jefe's signature. Inquire within. |

I just spent 4 days in the Marriot Residence Inn for Comic Con. It was a nice little suite with a fridge, dish washer, microwave, high speed internet (with cable) and wireless internet (Cingular 8125 wifi baby).
A little pricey because of the Comic Con timing, but they served dinner during the weeknights for free and breakfast in the morning until 9:30 for us late risers.
HBO and cable come with it.
I'd recommend it. _________________ Stop crying and start doing.
