One of the great bass players of all time. An inspiration to many. YES is one of my favorite bands and this man was one of the architects behind their pioneering sound. RIP ... In the Heart of the Sunrise ... "Mr. Rickenbacker" Sir Chris Squire. Thank you for your contributions to the world of progressive rock and music general, you will be sorely missed.

RIP

I was a big fan of Yes back in the day. I think I still have a copy of Fish Out of Water on vinyl. Chris was one of a handful of bassists from that era who had the ambition to make the bassist role about more than just rhythm. Jaco Pastorius jumps to mind.

I only ever saw Yes live once, in 1978 on the Tormato tour. It was one of the last (if not the very last) tours with the full classic lineup: Anderson, Howe, Squire, Wakeman, and White. There aren't many times when you'll ever see that many great rock instrumentalists at their peak at one time.

Definitely one of the best and instrumental (sorry) in Yes's distinctive sound.

For those who saw Squire live with Yes, I am in envy of you. Squire and John Entwistle always shared a kinship stylistically, they both had that bright, thumpy sound and were innovators in that regard. Legends. Shame that we have lost so many great artists this year. Jack Bruce, Andy Fraser, BB King, James Horner, Louie Johnson, Percy Sledge, and now Mr. Squire. Thankfully they all left behind timeless tunes that will outlive the rest of us.

That picture of Chris as an old man sort of freaked me out. I haven't followed the band in recent years, so the image of Chris as a 30ish guy is burned into my mind. Sometime I need to go listen to the more recent stuff. The last album I bought was Big Generator or something like that, back in the '80s.

Great bass player, I saw them at the Forum back in the day and he shook the building with his thundering bass lines.

RIP Chris, you will not be forgotten....
