If you watch the show on TWC sportsnet, the Laker Girls are more about Dancing than about looks. There's a lot of bad dancers who try out who get kicked out over the course of the first few rounds, but hey, you've got to give people props for trying out, especially in front of these video cameras.
I think the candidates shown are pretty good looking; I think there's kind of an unrealistic expectation of beauty out there in general, skewed by over exposure to photoshopped pictures (especially in fashion) and over use of plastic surgery (especially in porn). _________________ They're/You're/It's = They are/You are/It is; Their/Your/Its = Possessive of They/You/It; There = the adverb (like over there).

How much do they get paid these days? |
Under AB202 ( thanks to Jerry Brown) which will be in effect 2016, they will be considered workers rather than contractors. Heard it used be $130/game and they get an hourly rate for appearances depending on venue/category. |
Wow, we are paying twice as much as other teams, we should be able to get the best talent. |

Where's Charles Barkley? Some of these women must have flew in from San Antonio! |

I think trying to point out in the most logical way possible. Lisa Estrada has said before on the Laker Girls show that she wants girls that can actually dance. So looks or whatever other qualities they want don't matter as much in comparison.
Just like in any other field, you cut down the available pool if you add the requirement of great looking on top of prerequisite ability (dancing).
And for the record, I think Latin girl dancers are great, she just isn't probably hiring that type of dancing or they don't make the cut. The team seems to dance a different style.

The internet standards are real.
I thought 202, 154, 157, 150 and 193 were all double take worthy. _________________ http://i.imgur.com/gTZOWH4.jpg |

193 is the best IMO.
I honestly was expecting some hotter girls. I've seen more attractive high school squads... |

These Laker girls may be the best dancers but they sure are fugly. The Lakers are behind in the League in its Analytics dept, Sports medicine and now in it's Cheerleaders (in the eye candy department). |

I thought 111 looked familiar. She used to be a cheerleader for the Clippers. She's cute. I give her a 8.

Apparently my girlfriend is friends with that girl. Showed me the picture of her in front of the Lakers logo and said "hey look my friend Britney is a Laker girl". |

Let me just put this in perspective.

Now look at the Laker Girls:

^Thanks for the update. Looks like the returners who auditioned again this year all made it back. Best of luck to the new squad and the new members, hope they'll enjoy everything about the experience (even those Tue/Thur practices).
As the years go by, I seem to appreciate the squads from 2008-2013 even more. Sigh. |

Well, there's a reason for the above. If Lisa decided to bring down the "recommended" dance experience criteria, things would probably be very... very different.
Miami Heat Dancer Requirements:
o At least 2 years dance training is recommended.
Rockets Power Dancer Requirements:
o Drug test screening for finalists
o Must be a full time college student or hold a full time job
Laker Girl Requirements:
o 8 years dance experience recommended
Yep, 8 years. |

So, you're saying the Lakers are behind in the "Eye Candy" department as well. |
